Hello,
I just picked up the shorter Christian prayer. I just don’t know where to start with what we are in right now, Lent.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I am not mistaken, I think the website you put up a link to lists today’s pages for “Christian Prayer” and I think the Original Poster was asking about “Shorter Christian Prayer,” which is a different book.

Oh shoot, my mistake! Thank you for pointing that out! Sorry to the OP 🙂

Shorter Christian Prayer has only one week’s worth of texts for Lent, so mark your page in the proper day under Lent in the Proper of Seasons. Psalms are from the four week psalter, the invitatory antiphon is in the Ordinary, and the hymn is based on the Guide.

As with anything Liturgy of the Hours, you always start by studying the Ordinary. This gives you the structure of the Office. Familiarize yourself with the parts. It’s a Liturgy, like Mass, and so follows a consistent structure that quickly becomes very familiar.

Okay I am looking on page that says Lenton Season
Starts with Sunday Evening Prayer 1 but I do not know how far to go to get to correct time and day…
I turned to the First Wednesday Morning and it shows Deuteronomy 7:6,8-9, Canticle of Zechariah but not sure if that’s the correct Wednesday for today?
It has Sunday through Saturday, does it just repeat on the readings? because it shows
Sunday - Saturday then it shows Palm Sunday

I would need somebody to put in plain clear writing step by step day by day where to go and what to do. I have the guide even with that I got lost and confused. 😦

Unfortunately, as I said, Shorter Christian Prayer is a very abbreviated edition and contains only one week worth of seasonal texts. This means you repeat those texts each week, so tomorrow, you would bookmark Thursday (today, March 25th is the Solemnity of the Annunciation, which is a break in the Lenten cycle). For Lent, the structure of the Office is as follows:

Invitatory antiphon - Ordinary, for Lent.
Invitatory Psalm (95) - Ordinary
Hymn - one of the selections for Lent - use the Liturgical Guide for Hymns at the back of the book.
Psalms and Canticles with their antiphons - Four week psalter. Currently we are in Week IV.
Reading, Responsory, Gospel Antiphons, Intercessions, Closing Prayer - Proper of Seasons: Lent. Use the appropriate day.
