Hi Guys! I’ve read in the Faith Database that ‘‘St. Ignatius of Antioch’’ was the child that Jesus Christ took up in his arms as described in Mark 9:35

Jesus Christ died in the year 33, and St. Ignatius was born around the year 50, So there was a 17 years difference on their existence. Why do we(Catholics) believe that St. Ignatius was the child that Jesus Christ took up in his arms in Mark 9:35?

Can someone help me understand this, please…
Thank You And God Bless All Catholics!

I heard he was born in AD 35, And Jesus we have good reason to believe died in AD 30. Either way, I have heard the legend, not sure what the deal is with it though. I can either get back to you tomorrow with what I find out after a bit of digging, or maybe someone else more knowledgeable about the matter can respond. God Bless.

Thank You Nathan. I’ll be expecting for your reply. God Bless You!🙂

One quicklook at a Patrology source has St. Ignatius born in 30AD - died 107AD.

Hey bud. Most sources don’t even state when he was born, they put a question mark. So far we have anything from 30 AD to 35 AD, so we at least know it’s a possibility. I haven’t found the source of the Tradition yet though.
