That statement doesn’t accomplish anything other than to be needlessly confrontational.
I apologize if I came across sternly as that wasn’t my intention.
I don’t dispute the bible or even the truths in the catechism, but the “delivery” in the baltimore catechism doesn’t exactly encourage anyone to want to convert or revert in my opinion.
The truth of Catholicism is straight-forward and politically incorrect. The Baltimore Catechism is completely in line with this concept. During the time the Baltimore Catechism was in its “prime” the Church actually had more converts. Your right though that the Church didn’t have as many reverts during this time. It didn’t have to though, as very, very few left the Church during those times.

“Politcally Incorrect”, it is then…thanks 😃

There was a part that said to the effect that if we even thought about having an impure thought about a girl that we passed on the street that we needed to go to confession, and other similar comments.
my opinion is that the culture at the time (the Golden Age) had much higher moral standards. think of Saints, when they have managed to purge themselves of most of the big mortal sins, they start to focus in on the smaller sins. it is a constant conversion for life.

now for our current age, what you mentioned sounds extreme, but we should all be shooting for sainthood, for perfection, for heaven.

perhaps we can look at it as level 2, or a deeper, more challenging upgrade, like the TLM, for those who desire to take it to the next level.
