Question about the east-west schism

Question…

Could anyone post which doctrines we actually disagree on? I know that the Orthodox churches do not believe in the infallibility of the pope, but they do believe in the infallible Church. There’s not a huge amount of difference there, in my humble opinion. Whether it’s one pope or the college of bishops, we believe in the infallibility of the Church.

Aren’t our believes in the sacraments and salvation exactly the same?
 
Yeah, besides the filioque, we are pretty much the same.

For an Orthodox Christian to become a Catholic, all one has to do is recite the Creed and that’s it.

One of problems with my old understanding of Catolics was to think they are like Orthodox compared too Luterans and Baptizts but speaking Polish, French and controlled by Bishop of Rome or some other rather superficial concept.

From your point of view I think it is unfortunate to think of Orthodoxy as something just like Catolicism but without such filioque or inflabible Bishop of Rome.

Better for me to understand Catolicism as Catolics believe it - why I like this sait. But also for you to understand Orthodoxy as Orthodox believe it.

A good basic book that will explain the differences clearly and simply is THE ORTHODOX CHURCH by Timothy Ware (now Metropolitan Kallistos).
 
There are really precious few real substantive doctrinal differences. There are greater differences in approach and theological thinking style (for lack of a better phrase). The greatest divides are personal and emotional, i.e. tragic hostility, mistrust and pride.

The entire story makes you just want to cry. That schism is truly the devil’s greatest triumph since the cross. And in the end, he’s the only real villian in the story.
