šŸ™‚ is the Litany of the Saints part of this Mass?

sorry I don’t know cause I’m a new Catholic, actually I’m becoming a Catholic this Easter! šŸ˜‰

Yes, the Litany of the Saints is part of the Service of Water of the Easter Vigil. The congregation will sing the Litany of the Saints as the elect process to tthe baptismal font to be baptized.

Welcome to full communion with the Catholic Church. I will think of you while at my parish’s Easter Vigil.

Christ is risen!
Welcome!!
The Litany of the Saints is one of my favorite pieces of liturgical music! Like you I was received into the Church as an adult so I also didn’t grow up with this tradition, and once a Catholic for my first 15 years I had not been to an Easter Vigil ( I was received in at a week day Mass) nor to an ordination. I first heard the Litany of the Saints in the miniseries ā€œThe Thorn Birdsā€ and was completely in love with it immediately.

Some unrecognizable form was sung by the choir at our recent Easter Vigil. The faithful didn’t join in the chant, I think because we had no idea what it was. It was over in a couple minutes and was nearly over when I realized it was supposed to be the Litany of the Saints. When I got home I jumped on the computer to listen to and sing along with this: youtube.com/watch?v=4SlGfHwyC-M&feature=related

I hope the Easter Vigil at your parish had a glorious Litany of the Saints. All you holy men and women pray for us!
