Got a question my church doesn’t have the Oregon lead the mass i go to so it is a little bit aword to sing without accompaniment of the oregon why is that and is that normal for the ef mass?
I’ve attended sung Masses without an organist in the summer when the organist was on vacation and we couldn’t find anyone to replace him. The choir and congregation sang a capella. To my knowledge, there’s nothing wrong with that. This was at an ICRSS oratory; I trust they know what they’re doing.
If there’s no choir either, the Canon would just celebrate a low Mass.
I think musically much the same considerations apply as would to a Novus Ordo or Ordinariate Mass. If the congregation can manage a simple setting and a couple of well known hymns unaccompanied, fine. If not, the dignified solution is simply to hold a ‘low’ or said Mass.
