Fredo praying the Hail Mary in order to catch a fish, and getting shot. That scene is sad. I pity him there, poor Fredo,
I thought he knew he was gonna get shot and it was more of a, “Say your prayers. You’re gonna need them.” kind of situation.
He had said earlier in the movie that he always says a Hail Mary before fishing as it brings him luck.

Ah. I hadn’t played as much attention to the movie. (Wasn’t actually watching when I saw this bit 1-3 years ago.) Thanks for the clarification.

I haven’t watched the movies but from that clip, he broke down crying, who says he’s not repentant?

I don’t think it was.

Remember, at Mama’s funeral Connie interceded for Alfredo to Michael.

Michael then embraced him, in front of all the mourners.

Fredo was to take Anthony fishing. He had given Anthony advice to say a Hail Mary to catch a fish. Then Connie came to fetch Anthony, because Michael was supposed to take him to Reno.

Fredo went fishing anyway, not realizing that it was with his hit man.

Fredo praying was natural and calm. He didn’t know he was going to be bumped.

It’s funny… I just bought a cannoli for a mid afternoon snack and was thinking of the cannoli scene before seeing this thread!

Thats a pretty bad example of Confession given to us by Hollywood. Another one is in Annabelle: Creation when a NUN gives Confession. Not kidding!
