Question about the "hour of death"

in the diary of st faustina, Jesus tells her to say the chaplet at the bedside of the dying. other Catholic literature and prayers also make reference to some last great trial that faces Christian souls at death.

so what kind of trial is it supposed to be? is it just the human fear of death? is it doubt or despair about one’s salvation? or is it a last temptation to sin and doom your soul?

these writings and prayers aren’t that specific about what it is we’re supposed to prepare ourselves for or pray for for the dyning.
