Question about the Joyful Mysteries

Could someone please explain the signifigence of The Finding of Jesus in the Temple in the Joyful Mysteries? I really like to pray the Joyful Mysteries but am having trouble undstanding this one.

Could it be, because the joy Mary gets when someone is lost and then finds Her Son?
 
I like to think of it when we all get lost no matter what we will find Jesus & God in the church. Joseph & Mary were showing us that no matter how lost we are, we should make our way back to the church and “find” Jesus, with God His Father.

Jesus wasn’t really lost; He was right there in the Temple. Joseph and Mary were so distracted traveling home they thought Jesus was with them. Maybe if we get too distracted with stuff in our daily lives we need to go Church.

May be completely off base according to what the theologians interpret but that is what I’ve conjured up through meditating on the mystery.
 
In an attempt to tie the rosary to the Old Testament I offered the following on the 5th Joyful mystery:
The new Davidic King was customarily proclaimed in the Temple.

We first see this in **1Kings 1:11-53 **where Solomon is taken to the tent at Gihon to be anointed king in opposition to Adonijah, who had thought to seize the throne by popular acclaim.

In **2 Kings 11:1-20 **Jehoash is proclaimed King in the Temple in defiance of his wicked grandmother Athaliah, who had usurped the throne on the death of her son Ahziah.

Now Jesus demonstrates His claim to do His Father’s work in the temple.
 
Well I see it like this, if I want to find Jesus in His Real Presence where will I find Him?

In His Church (temple) about His Father’s business.

If I want to find Jesus where else will I find Him?

In my ‘self’ which is a temple for the Holy Spirit and in my soul which the Holy Trinity indwells. I am to be about my Father’s business in Christ Jesus.

Where else may I find Jesus?

In others too. We are all to be about our Father’s business in Christ Jesus.

While I agree that you and I can get so distracted, that was not why Mary and Joseph lost sight of their son. In those days the women and children traveled in one group and the men in another. At the end of the day they’d all meet up with one another. Since Jesus was at the transitional age between childhood and adulthood, Joseph probably assumed he was with his mother and Mary probably assumed he was with Joseph and the other men. It wasn’t until they’d gone a day’s journey and met up in the evening that they realized he was missing.

We certainly can learn a good deal from theologians, but its good for us to meditate on the Scriptures on our own, as long as we understand we might not be as informed about the times and other factors that might help us understand them better. Yes?
 
It is also a foreshadowing of Jesus’ death. Mary lost her Son for three days not once, but twice — once when He remained in the Temple, and once when He was in the tomb.

When I pray this Mystery, I like to pray for those who have lost Jesus in their lives, that they will find Him again in His Church (temple).

I agree that it can be a difficult one to understand. If you have a hard time with it, you are in good company. Recall that Mary and Joseph did not understand it either (Luke 2:48–50):

When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.” And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he said to them.

There is a car sticker saying “Can’t find Jesus? Look for His Mother!”. She is the One who helps us closer to Jesus. Pray and ask her to do the same for many others.

I just want to add this:
Finding Jesus in the temple brought joy to Mary and Joseph.
Whoever finds Jesus in his heart can also have the same joy.

The joyful mystery ends with the joy of finding Jesus.
