Question about the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary?

The Little Office should have different readings for each day of the week, because it’s derived from the traditional Roman Breviary, in which you say all 150 psalms over a one-week cycle.

I recommend the one published by Baronius Press. It’s well-made, a handy size, attractive, and has the text in two columns, Latin and English.

It’s a great devotion for laity and even though I usually use the Roman Breviary I’m always tempted to switch to the LO.

I think i shall buy that one, cause as a said ive seen two types of the Office online and i liek the one that changes in the week, thankls for answering God bless!
 
There are various authorised LOBVMs in use in 1962, the most common being that contained in the liturgical books of the 1962 Roman Rite. There are no authorised post-Council versions that I am aware of except a possible Carmelite edition that is out of print and I don’t know if the Carmelites actually authorised that one.

The most common Little Office is not that varied. It uses the same limited number of Psalms throughout the year, with small changes in antiphons and readings depending on the season. It doesn’t change on a daily basis.
 
I’ve been wanting to include this in my devotions. I have it in the iPieta app on my ipod, but I’d like to get one for my kindle. So far I haven’t been successful in that.

I believe the one on iPieta has different readings for each day.

True, it has three forms of each office, to be said at different times of the year, but not a true seasonal cycle like the full Divine Office. It is much more repetitious in that regard.
 
I’ve heard of that kind of office but if I recall the Baronius Press LOBVM doesn’t have selections from the Church Fathers and saints, just the psalms, hymn and canticle.

Any more informed Catholic out there?

I, like you, am looking for the version that has one week of readings. The LOBVM from Catholic Publishing has the 4 week Psalter which is the same as the Liturgy of the Hours. What I would like to find, in print, is the link you listed.

I have a particular fondness for the Douai Catechism of 1649 owing to my devotion to the English Martyrs and all the heroic priests who were trained at the English College at Douai, and (from there) went into England to offer the Sacraments to the persecuted faithful. That Catechism makes a special mention of the Little Office and gives a defense of its practice and attributes it popularization among the laity to the working of the Holy Ghost. Consequently I also have been looking for a good version and, for historical reference, older ones in English if possible that would correlate to the version referenced in the Douai 1649 Catechism.

Depends on which book.
  • The one from Catholic Book Publishing has one week, bit with the VII updates, i.e. Glory to the Father… instead of Glory be to the father… something like Little Office
  • Baronius Press has the same readings every day, see Little Office
  • Not sure about the others
