Hi I just registered and noticed that the Thread to post questions on masturbation is closed so I wish to post here if that’s ok, since I have an urgent wish to know some opinion on this topic in relation with the medical science.
I’m a straight man 34 years old and single, never had sex in my life but until the age of 26 I sometimes masturbated. Now I don’t do that anymore so I sometimes go some weeks without having night pollution that easy my sperm pressure. I’m scary to death now cos I read so many articles that say that a man should empty his prostate at least once a week or more often to prevent cancer there or the painful prostatitis. Now my night pollutions are getting rare and I’m afraid that the amount of sperm in my genitals will cause me a disease. A friend of mine got prostatitis, he didn’t masturbate for one year after he split with his girlfriend with whom he had sex regularly, he’s not a Catholic he just was too busy too masturbate. So he went to the doctor. The doctor gave him strong antibiotics and mocked him cos he said he had been a fool not to wank, and that this is the price he must now pay. My friend felt humiliated and he also feel sick so it’s an awful situation. So what is the matter really, if we want to be good Catholics we must also accept that we will almost surely have trouble with our genitals Health? I’m quiet angry and frustrated, being single is tough enough, I don’t want to get also sick. Thanks for the Help and advice you can give me.

Nothing bad will happen to you from not masturbating.

If this were really true, shouldn’t pretty much all monks and priests get prostate cancer?

Semen gets reabsorbed by the body after a certain amount of time, it doesn’t just build up indefinitely.

Well that would be great… but has this theory the same support of the other one? And maybe Priests and Monks don’t all get prostate cancer or prostatitis cos they get more night pollutions or maybe some even choose to … manually free it… we can’t know for sure unfortunately…
The problem is that I don’t get night pollutions as regularly as I had before I now start feeling some pressure… I know that Church will never tell me OK then just go on with it… that would be impossible… but surely it’s a big predicament cos there’s not really the issue of the sexual temptation, but rather an Health issue and quiet a serious one…

…he just was too busy too masturbate.
really??? That throws his whole credibity into question right there for me - : )

Anyway, this whole line of thinking sounds like an urban legend or old wives tale -

The science is far from conclusive, some research even suggesting the opposite:

webmd.com/prostate-cancer/news/20090127/masturbation-and-prostate-cancer-risk
“Frequent masturbation during men’s 20s and 30s increased their risk of prostate cancer,” Dimitropoulou tells WebMD. “But men in their 50s who masturbated frequently had decreased risk.”

Read the short article - even the decreased/increased risk was not determined to be necessarily linked to the masturbation or lack of it, but could be related to other independant conditions (hormone levels etc.)

It is also a good point made above, that if what you say is true there would be a high prevalence of prostate cancer among faithful celebates, which has not been demonstrated - see this article:

There is a reason the topic is an “Old Topic” with lots of closed threads. Don’t masturbate. period. No matter what scenario you come up with the answer is no. How hard can this be?🤷

It is a perennial topic, since folks would like to find some loop-hole or wiggle room in Church teaching on this matter, but there simply isn’t any.

God in His infinite wisdom did not design the human sexual capacity to be a means for the self to give itself sexual gratification - it is designed for communion between a man and woman in marriage and for reproduction. Masturbation is neither of these.
