Thanks for the replies everyone!

Do I understand kcorrectly that if I want to, for example, say a Rosary for Pope Benedict, I could offer it to Our Lady and humbly ask her to apply it in whatever way is God’s will leaving it up to her? Or in the case of spiritual bouquets.
It’s not mandated as in everyone must do it… it’s a choice to do it or not. It’s approved though.
Hi CB Catholic, I’ve been a Catholic much less than you and I’m still learning

so I’m sure I’m still learning about True Devotion as well and probably others could give better answers. But - the way I understand it, when we give ourselves to Mary, it’s - us giving ourselves to Jesus through Mary, so we are giving ourselves to Him in the end. I think maybe yo’ure asking though, why is it said that it’s better to do this through Mary, and why involve anyone except Jesus to begin with. I think in the book, True Devotion, St Louis de Montfort makes this example - let’s say you’re giving an apple to a king… you can just give it to him, and because you’re his faithful servant, (and in the case of our Divine King, His friend!) - then he will accept it. But if you give it to his mother to give to him, she would put it on a gold plate, arrange everything the way she knows would please him the most, because she knows him so well. Mary is Jesus’ Mother so she must know Him so well. She knows much better than me, what is pleasing to Him. So if I give Him my heart, yes He accepts this from us. But if we give it to Mary first… she makes it even more pleasing to Him.
I’ve been trying to understand this whole idea… I read that all graces come to us from Mary. Here’s a great article about this idea that helped me:
cantuar.blogspot.ca/2011/05/is-mary-mediatrix-of-all-graces.html it seems to me - and maybe it would be best to check this with a priest? - is that even if we don’t know it, Mary is still involved in our relationship with Jesus. So let’s say a Protestant comes to know Jesus but never prayed to Mary in their whole life. But it seems like because all graces come through Mary, that she prayed for this person and helped them come to know God. She is the Mother of every person on earth, even if they don’t know her. I think with True Devotion, it’s making this explicit in the will of the person - actually choosing her in this way, and with a free choice giving ourselves to Jesus through Mary - which is very powerful.
It can be confusing because isn’t it the Holy Spirit who brings us to Jesus. Yes, of course.

But Mary is His Spouse so it seems like they’re together

one thing I realized about Catholicism when I became Catholic is how there’s no competition between Jesus and Mary, they’re together, they all work together… what we’re obligated to do is only offer worship to God, and St Louis de Montfort in True Devotion agrees that all our devotions must lead to Jesus. So true devotion to Mary always leads to Jesus
I think maybe it’s because - we aren’t able to give ourselves to God perfectly… we can do it, yes, but Mary can help us do this better.

I hope that helps… its just my understanding
God bless!
