Just curious. Say a priest commits a mortal sin on a Tuesday night and has to say Mass on Wednesday morning. Does he need to find a way to confess it before he consecrates the Eucharist at morning Mass? Or does he still say Mass and just not receive the sacrament?

Unless it is a situation of grave necessity, he cannot celebrate Mass. If it is, he must make an act of perfect contrition and then celebrate Mass.

Another good reason for parishes to have multiple priests. I have sometimes thought about the fact that my priest has to drive 20-30 minutes to make a confession.

As AJV said, he must either confess or make an act of perfect contrition before Mass. The reference for this is Canon 916 of the Code of Canon Law.

Note however, that even if the Priest in a state of mortal sin does celebrate Mass (technically a sacrilege), the Eucharist and Mass are still valid.

For more on this, here is a good concise resource:

He’s lucky, for several months of the year my pastor is at least 6 hours away from the possibility of confession.

if the priest does not receive both the Body and the Blood that Mass is not valid. Yes he receives, and confesses as soon as possible. The validity of the Mass and Sacrament do not depend on the priests personal holiness or spiritual condition, because Christ himself is the actor and fills any defects.
