Back then, when I was uninformed, I thought those were Satanic Crucifixes, so I threw them off. I was afraid that it might give a curse or something. Now, knowing some truths, I feel guilty.

Is it a mortal sin or no?

Please explain what you mean by a “bent crucifix”. Is this some particular style of crucifix, or a normal crucifix that has somehow gotten bent?

It is the same crucifix that the post-v2 Popes have been using in their crozier.

I’m afraid I have committed blasphemy to an image, because of my ignorance.

The use of that crucifix, which has been endorsed by Popes, is not a sin. Some people do not like the artistic style of the crucifix as they feel it is ugly or disrespectful to Christ. I think the artist was just trying to make a more realistic depiction of what a crucified person might look like hanging off a cross in death. I could make an argument that the Christ with upraised arms is a Jansenist heretical representation (Jansenist crucifixes had Jesus with arms straight up rather than spread out; the upraised arms were a symbol that he didn’t die for everybody but just for some subset of people who were saved) but I don’t think that’s what was intended by either the artist or the Pope.

People throughout history have gotten all up in arms every time they saw a crucifix, or a representation of the Crucifixion, that departed from whatever kind they were used to seeing.

If you truly thought the crucifixes were Satanic, you were wrong, but you did not commit any sin in getting rid of them because you were just ignorant of the truth. Hopefully you know better now and will be reverent towards these Pope-endorsed crucifixes in the future.

We all get depressed sometimes and desperation is also considered blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, or believing God does not love us.
Confess it if it still haunts you and see what the priest will say to make reparation.
God bless

The bent patibulum (crossbeam) symbolizes the weight of the world’s sins for which Christ is shown paying the price. I don’t know if Grünewald was the originator of the symbol, but it’s his famous altarpiece at Isenheim, in Germany, painted in about 1516, which has become the classic form of the symbol.

Mortal sin requires that you understand that what you are doing is mortal sin. So, this doesn’t qualify.

Ask Jesus forgiveness and just go to confession and say to the priest ,that you have unintentionally threw the Crucifix, thinking its an satanic cross that’s it.since its an sacramental,so don’t worry about it any more ,Jesus will forgive you.God Bless

WEll, it would appear you have learned three things.
  1. Bent crucifixes reflect a style that is entirely acceptable.
2 One of the three things required of any sin is that you know it is sinful (it appears you did not know that).
  1. Getting rid of the crosses because of mistaken ideas is not sinful.
You might want to invest in a copy of, say, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Catholic Catechism. It is available on Amazon.

And no, I am not saying you are an idiot - it is just easier reading than its source.
