I am Catholic and worked for an Advintist Organization and every time we would have a meeting we would have prayer that was fine prayer is good BUT I always started my prayer by doing the sign of the cross over myself, and one day my Director grabed my hands from me and prayed and did not want me to do it, after prayer when she let go I blessed my self and got the worst look ever. There religon was pushed on you and they thought I was just the worst because I liked to go dancing on the week-ends.I no longer work for them but I have heard stories from other people that have worked for them.

HOSEA : WE WILL PERISH FROM LACK OF KNOWLEDGE.

😊 Hello OMG; Girl?? I must humbly apologies OMG on behalf of that Director, I am really sorry that you were treated like that…I certainly would not behave like that and most Adventist Christians I know would NOT act so badly. But there are some adventists who do behave like that, many have altered their attitude…

No, in my group and other Adventist Christian groups that I know of, we would quietly smile and say maybe, ‘Oh you are a Catholic?’ ‘Well you are welcome to our Bible study group’. Afterwards over hot drinks we would make friends with you, and certainly not push our ‘religion’ down your throat. Probably even, for the next few weeks we would concentrate on subjects that we agree on, to help you to feel at home…then if you decided to stay on very kindly and carefully include other topics which you would be free to comment on and respect your views. Ha the only thing that might happen is that we all try to ‘explain’ at ONCE, sorry, that would have to be curtailed by the leader of the group…Adventist Christians tend to be (to use an army term) ‘commandos’ used to operating alone, but in a group setting this has to be controlled…

We are ‘human’ and sometimes don’t behave correctly, but we love other Christians and respect them. :o Michael.

I do not believe that you can demonstrate the relation of her name to 666. You might try though, it would be interesting to see it…
Hello geometer. Thanks for that brother or sister, I appreciate that! I have heard that there is a problem with that equation…as there is with the other 666 that we Adventists like too use, the title either never existed or has been ha, discontinued, by the Papacy…😉

Brother,
It is good to see you posting on the forums… I look forward to reading more of your posts. I have to disagree with you, regarding some of your statements however.

Ellen G. White in the book Great Controversy said on page 408:
The scripture which above all others had been both the foundation and the central pillar of the advent faith was the declaration: “Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.” Daniel 8:14. These had been familiar words to all believers in the Lord’s soon coming. By the lips of thousands was this prophecy repeated as the watchword of their faith. All felt that upon the events therein foretold depended their brightest expectations and most cherished hopes. These prophetic days had been shown to terminate in the autumn of 1844.”

This text, DAiel 8:14 is the central text of the Adventist prophetic interpretation and EGW call is the foundation and central pillar of the Advent Faith. This is quite disturbing since she is using almost the same language as scripture in 1 Timothy 3:15:

if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

Notice that scripture tell us that the Church is the pillar and foundation of the truth… but EGW teaches that the SDA interpretation of Daniel 8:14 is the central pillar and foundation of the Adventist faith. Which shall we believe?

In fact the three angels messages is steeped in Adventist prophecy. It is these messages that the Adventist Church feels called to proclaim to the world.

How is that? Christ founded a church in the NT… the Adventist Church was not founded until 1863 officially… unofficially the group formed in the 1840’s… how can you be founded on Christ when he had already established a Church nearly 2000 years before? You need to provide some evidence for your claim here.

In direct contradiction to Scripture unfortunately. 😦

OK… lets explain this a little for those who may not be as familiar with the SDA Church. EGW’s did say that she did not wish to be called a prophet… but not out of humility… in fact she said her work was far greater than that of a prophet. The idea that her books are a lesser light leading to a greater light is sort of like saying we need a flashlight to find the sun. Its a bit of an oxymoron.

Whether or not EGW wanted to be called a prophet or not, this is the status that is afforded to her by the Church. In fact her writings are referred to as the Spirit of Prophecy and the acceptance of the Churches teaching on the Spirit of Prophecy is a required part of the baptismal vows and part of the 28 fundamental beliefs of the Church. With this belief the SDA Church finds its self in a precarious position of at one time claiming to be sola scriptura AND believing that they have other inspired writings. In order to remedy this they have created a 2nd class prophet status… i.e. EGW’s writings are inspired and from God, however, they do not bear the same authority or weight as scripture. The problem with this is that if the writings are from God… then why don’t God’s messages have the same authority as His other messages?
PS. With respect the Seventh-day Adventist Church was actually formed in the 1860’s. The earlier group were the Millerites in 1844.

The church was legally formed in 1863 after putting off forming an formal organization for quite some time. however, the Seventh-Day Adventist founders and beliefs started in the 1840’s, in fact the earliest writings of the EGW to the Adventist Church, still used today, are from the late 1840’s and early 1850’s.

Hello again. While you were away, maybe sleeping? probably in a different time zone to me?

Ha. Been doing research on you brother, sda2rc.com, etc. All I can say is very good, you have a good website, looks quite balanced to me in your approach to Adventists and Catholics, giving equal space to both!! Thanks for that.

Timothy 3:15 was Paul writing of course saying, ‘these things I write hoping to come unto you shortly…but if I tarry long, that thou may know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground (or stay in margin) of the truth.’ ‘And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:…’ sorry for KJV but I find it tends to be the more accurate translation…(ha, you would say, ‘when it agrees with your belief’…)

The church is what will hold you, keep you true to Christ, keep your foundation sure and you will ‘stay’ in the faith…??

Great is the mystery of godliness…we humans often have difficulty understanding is without a doubt…so no wonder we have our differences eh?

However, I would say that the Bible is God’s Word, written by humans, but still the truth is protected by God…so I would say there is really only one true interpretation through the Holy Spirit who inspired the Bible writers, though they probably wrote in their own words from the Inspired Thoughts in their minds…so we all think we have the correct interpretation?..all will be revealed one day soon huh?..
🙂
So, we will never agree on Ellen White, ha, we have her, you don’t…an advantage for us I think, to have the Gift of Prophecy with us… she often says that the Bible is our only rule of faith and Lord Jesus Christ the only Rock on which our faith is built…

Carry on with your web blogs and things, very balanced, which we should all try to be…Michael.

Hi Michael,

Welcome to CAF!! Most of the points you raise have been discussed in much detail already in other posts. If you are interested in those exchanges I suggest doing a search on “SDA” for the various thread discussions!
Hello MarysRoses.

What you will find though is that Former Members of any Church or Organization are usually the most bitter and write much ‘poison’ against their former place.
Do you hold the same opinion regarding those converts to Seventh-day Adventism from other church organizations?

I can assure you that the former SDAs on this forum who have converted to Catholicism did so out of following more and more Light and Truth revealed to them by the Holy Spirit, rather than bitterness toward the SDA church…myself included. I think that holds true for MarysRoses, SDA2RC, adventistnomore, Marsha Adams, me…(and who else am I forgetting?).

I highly recommend that you take time to read the articles on the SDA2RC website and the Dies Domini website…as well as their blogs!! I think it would help you to understand some of the misconceptions you maintain as a SDA. I think most SDAs are sincere Christians and do their best to follow the Light they have received…they just haven’t understood the fullness of the Gospel and The Church of Jesus Christ. As I know you know…God does not hold you accountable for what you don’t know…but He has led you here for a reason. Pray that you realize His reason!

God bless all!!!

 Ah well Patrick Murebil. This is where we agree to disagree I think?

I have been a Seventh-day Adventist Christian all my life, 3rd generation as they say, so you cannot really teach me much about it. So after being a protestant, shall we say, I cannot understand how you all can return to the the RCC…the Pope is going around the world trying to rejoin all the churches and other faiths too…it will maybe happen too before the Lord Jesus Christ returns at the end of this world.

All I ask is that you REMEMBER what you have learned as a protestant, especially as a Seventh-day Adventist Christian…for when all happens as the Bible lays out for the last events on planet earth maybe you will remember what you learned…and choose whom you will worship…the beast and his image and the great dragon, or the Creator, Saviour and King, the Lord Jesus Christ?

So, any genuine questions and I shall attempt to answer, though, I think I have covered nearly all the bases; I will not respond to your kind of talk Patrick…!

The basic thing is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, Creator, Saviour and King, who died in our place on Calvary’s Cross in full payment for our sins…that and only that will get us eternal life when we believe and then as a result, obey! I think we can agree on that??

I have indeed checked out the websites if you took time to read my response…Michael.🙂

Are you insinuating that Patrick, as a Catholic, does not worship Christ?

I grew up an SDA and had the same question when I got older, it was never answered very well. So now, years later, I am a new Catholic and very happy to be so. I am looking at the several websites that other SDA converts to Catholicism have online as I am still learning. And this Catholic Answers Forum is good, too.

hey brother2,

how do you square the commandment “thou shall not kill” with the sda church’s official stand on abortion? as a former sda i think that the church only focuses on the sabbath commandment and not on the other ones equally

adventist.org/beliefs/guidelines/main_guide1.html
  1. Prenatal human life is a magnificent gift of God. God’s ideal for human beings affirms the sanctity of human life, in God’s image, and requires respect for prenatal life. However, decisions about life must be made in the context of a fallen world. Abortion is never an action of little moral consequence. Thus prenatal life must not be thoughtlessly destroyed. Abortion should be performed only for the most serious reasons.

 Ah well Patrick Murebil. This is where we agree to disagree I think?
…ahhhh Michael…or do you think it is preferrable to disagree to agree?😉
I have been a Seventh-day Adventist Christian all my life, 3rd generation as they say, so you cannot really teach me much about it.
Michael, I can assure you that I am not out to teach you anything about the Seventh-day Adventist church. From what I’ve read in your posts you appear to understand your beliefs very good!👍
So after being a protestant, shall we say, I cannot understand how you all can return to the the RCC…the Pope is going around the world trying to rejoin all the churches and other faiths too…it will maybe happen too before the Lord Jesus Christ returns at the end of this world.
You make those statements like there is something wrong with the unity of Christians…please correct me if I am misunderstanding what you are saying. After all, Jesus’ final prayer was that we all be one as He is One with The Father.

We can all pray and hope that this will happen before the Lord Jesus Christ returns!!! Wouldn’t that be a nice gift to Jesus when He returns!!! He has done so much for all of us!!! We should make His final prayer our prayer too!!!👍
All I ask is that you REMEMBER what you have learned as a protestant, especially as a Seventh-day Adventist Christian…for when all happens as the Bible lays out for the last events on planet earth maybe you will remember what you learned…
Thanks for asking! I do remember what I learned as a protestant, especially what I learned as a Seventh-day Adventist. So much of who I am as a Christian today is what I learned as a Lutheran growing up, and as a Seventh-day Adventist from the age of 19 to well in my 40s. However, there are quite a few things I learned as a Seventh-day Adventist that are incorrect and not Biblical. So, after further Bible study, much prayer, much prayer, more study, much prayer, much prayer, and much more prayer, The Holy Spirit led me to the origianal Church established by Jesus Christ Himself about 2000 years ago. When I accepted Jesus’ teachings by faith, the scales of prejudice and bigotry which had blinded me for 49 years fell from my eyes and mind, and I began to understand His Word!!!

And now I do REMEMBER what Jesus commanded us to REMEMBER…that glorious act of love which gives us sinners forgiveness and eternal life…and what a blessing it is to remember Jesus and follow His commands, to experience His forgiveness and reconcilliation, and joy and hope of life eternal!!! Praise God!!! Amen!!
and choose whom you will worship…the beast and his image and the great dragon, or the Creator, Saviour and King, the Lord Jesus Christ?
I’ve already made that choice. I worship the our Creator, Saviour, King, Prophet, and Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ!!! I assume that you have made that choice too???
So, any genuine questions and I shall attempt to answer, though, I think I have covered nearly all the bases;
Well…the Bible is a pretty big book…but if you think you’ve covered nearly all the bases in your posts in the past 4 pages of this thread…I guess I’ll have to take your word for it. I only wish I could be that succint!!
I will not respond to your kind of talk Patrick…!
And what, may I ask, is my “kind of talk”?
The basic thing is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, Creator, Saviour and King, who died in our place on Calvary’s Cross in full payment for our sins…that and only that will get us eternal life when we believe and then as a result, obey! I think we can agree on that??
Yes, I do agree with you on that!!! See, we are making wonderful progress here!!!🙂
I have indeed checked out the websites if you took time to read my response…Michael.🙂
Oh, don’t just check them…take some time to read, study, and understand them!!

God bless all!!!

Are you insinuating that Patrick, as a Catholic, does not worship Christ?
It certainly appears that way doesn’t it Schnitz? And based on his references to the beast and his image and the great dragon (and being a former SDA myself), I feel confident to say that he is also insinuating that, as a Catholic, I am following the beast and his image and the great dragon…The Pope, going to Church on Sunday to worship Jesus Christ, and Satan…in that order.

And that is the wonder and delight of the Seventh-day Adventist “gospel” for many Seventh-day Adventists. Yes, I can see how Michael is amazed that we former Seventh-day Adventists converted to Catholicism. I once believed and thought the exact same things, as Michael does, for decades.

Thank God that He still performs miracles!!!

God bless all!!!

Welcome Home lynnevive!!! You will find those other websites very informative and helpful and a great blessing! I have learned so much from them!!

Hi everyone,
Most of us are arguing about this present truth. I only wish if Jesus would again come in human form to explain the right way to Heaven, which day is the true day of worship and when was the beginning of truth. Everything is there in the Bible but the problem is, those of us going against the SDAs, looks like you never let the Bible teach them, it seems that you are trying to redirect the Bible. For every thing there is a beginning and the end but only the Sabbath that is emphasize more than 10 times in the Bible will never end.
Thanks
regards
Morris:)

May God bless all here…wonderful wonderful Gentlemen and Ladies? this is just what the Forum is all about huh??😉 Everyone discussing and debating and airing their views???

Really putting the Adventist Cat amongst the Catholic Pigeons huh??? Sorry, only kidding.

Let me say what I have said all along…I respect all of you as fellow travellers in this world of sin and love you as fellow Christians living up to the Light that we have…and I believe that is just about all that God expects of us at ‘the end of the day’.

Even the Pope and the Papacy are human beings probably not aware of possible deceptions by the great deceiver, living up to the Light that they have…and just like the rest of us humble Christians…will be given every opportunity to make the right choice one day. Many sincere Christians are asleep in the grave who will rise to Glory because they lived up to the Light they had while alive…

So, I respect that all of you are Worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ to the best of your ability and according to the Light that you all have…along with myself!!!

And when I say we shall Agree to Disagree…I mean it sincerely!!!

Bye for now and God bless all here!! Michael.👍

Wow as one who attended the adventist Church and even won a Bible for perfect attendance i must say Michael that your very good at using the twisted interpretation of the SDA church on history. To respond to all you claim as History would take far to long. So i’ll simply tell you it is correct in just enough places to confuse those ignorant of the true History. As one who has like i said earlier attended the SDA church your being very polite in your discussion here with Catholics as i know that your Church very Strongly believes and still teaches the Pope is the head of the beast which is Rome. I can tell you and all reading this that i can tell you from experience that SDA members that own businesses do not practice what they Preach. Example Little Debbie snack cakes they the owners may observe the sabbath but they sure do not mine making money and having there drivers work on the sabbath. And one only needs to watch the TV show Amazing facts to see the distortion of facts about the Catholic Church. All i’ve got to say but thought my (name removed by moderator)ut should be read…Larry

Hello Morris. So glad to see I have caused you an ‘inactive member’ back into the Forum!!!

And by the way you write I sense a sincere seeker of Truth, may God bless you and guide you in your life. May your life be as happy as possible. Michael.👍

So glad to see that you have watched AMAZING FACTS! As for Adventists working on Sabbath or causing their workers to work, is not the proper way to live…they are in danger of being called ‘hypocrites’, like the Scribes and Pharisees, or on the other hand we are all human and can get carried away with the cares of this life(Parable of the Sower).

Yes we may believe that the Bible teaches that, but One should always show Respect to every human being who comes within our ‘sphere of interest’!! Let us always treat others as we would like to be treated!! I would visit a Roman Catholic Church if I lived anywhere else than where I do live, bit difficult here, too polarized…dont want to give away where I live though you may guess…🤷

Wow and Wow again as I have already said but I am just re reading your responses, maybe while you are all asleep…different time zones etc.

Ah Unity! Yes how wonderful it could be though we can be in Spirit if not by Doctrine…Huh?? Lord Jesus wants us to be ‘One’ just as He was with the Father, though Truth cannot unite with Error, whether ‘me to you’ or ‘you to me’ if you understand? Yet as men and women say, ‘we can’t be lovers but we can be friends?’

Christians can be Friends in Christ? Loving each other in Christ? Respecting each other in Christ? Debating on this Forum in Christ? Even if we cannot unite on Doctrine?
Wars are blamed on ‘Religion’! But it does not have to be that way? If the Spirit of Christ is in our hearts and minds war is impossible…!!

So, God bless all here and may the Holy Spirit grant us Peace!! Michael.👍

Wow Wow, Well Done Fellars and maybe Lassies in there somewhere, all hiding behind nicknames. But yeah, go to the Top of the Class for thought out responses, giving up on the ‘one liners’! That guy who had researched Adventism…10 out of 10 brother!!

If you read my first ‘blog’ you would have seen that in time we might have to ‘agree to disagree’ yeah?? Well I think we are nearly at that point…

As regards 'hating the Roman Catholic Church…some Adventists may come over like that and I apologise on their behalf, maybe AGE has given me more compassion, especially being on the receiving end of ‘persecution’ myself.
So sorry guys and gals if the tone of our preaching tends to ‘hate’ the Roman Catholic Church, but hey, hate is Wrong brothers and DO NOT hate any of you, I dont personally hate the Catholic Church either, ha especially with all the new Laws out there now eh??

NO, seriously, no, most Adventist are Christians and yes, we have to Protest against the Roman Catholic Church for reasons one of you spelled out, which I have stepped back from as my Hosts on this Website are RC and I do not intend offending. We believe Lord Jesus of Revelation has given us a message to preach, he is coming soon(surely the state of the world tells that) and we want as many people as possible to believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ and be ready to meet Him.

Ellen White?? I have kind of explained that too. She was Methodist by the way. Very ill after another school girl threw a stone at her and injured her badly. Missed a lot of her schooling and never finished her education. Ellen started having visions around 16 years old. Another educated man had been chosen by God first and given a big vision, but he refused to do the work. Then he attended a meeting where Ellen was quietly explaining her first vision and the guy was shocked to the core because Ellen was explaining his vision!!
Even with little education Ellen wrote many books, God gave here the ability which she did not have naturally.

God chose the weakest of the weak to do His task.

Now I will never convince you guys, but sufficient to say, we believe in the Gift of Prophecy right? Ellen was given that Gift. Remember, she is never taken ABOVE the Bible, lesser light leading to the Greater Light.

Yeah, the Bible alone. Obviously we read books humans have wrote too, wise men like your Priesthood etc., its just that we don’t take their word for it, Scripture First. And we don’t only read Adventist books, we have open communion which anyone can take part, and the same with books, we can read any Commentators books including Catholic if we so desire.

So, believe or not guys, I love you with Christian love. I am just explaining what I believe and I do RESPECT you too, even with what i believe. Bible says, ‘love the sinner hate the sin’!!! So every individual within the Catholic Church we love and respect, even the pope…it is just the part that the Organization plays in history and in the final events of Planet earth, that we feel we have to Preach.

Remember, most Protestant believed that till around 50 years ago…now we are not the only ones, but most Protestant Churches have altered their teaching.

OK enough for now. Bye. Michael.
This woman had visions too, but I like Hers better…😃
