No. The “Celtic Orthodox Church” is one of those fake Orthodox groups. They are in no way associated with the Orthodox Church.

Thanks 🙂 I just looked them up on wikipedia and found the same thing 🙂 good…

would the Orthodox disagree with that article then? If you don’t want to read the whole thing, it’s basically saying that we shouldn’t address the Saints and Angels because that’s spiritism, instead we should ask God for them to pray for us. My understanding was that it’s alright to address them because we’re only asking for their prayers, not for information. I have to say that this article even made me doubt 😦 so I wanted to check if maybe the Orthodox think the same way as that article, - even though all I’ve seen of Orthodoxy suggests something else. What do you think? 🙂

I did find this Orthodox article: orthodoxinfo.com/inquirers/invocationofsaints.aspx

I think that first article talks about how in the early Church, they didn’t address Saints, they just asked God for their prayers… I dont know if that’s true or not. hmm…

I’ve never heard of anybody having an issue with it. My brother credits the prayers of St Gabriel of Zabludow with selling his house. We regularly address the Theotokos. 🤷

While we don’t go so far as to define a Patron for a multitude of things, we do pray to the saints directly and have patrons. Mine is St. Joseph the Betrothed (which is why you’ll see some Orthodox on here call me Joseph)

Hi Monica,

I thought you were Orthodox once … am I mistaking you for someone else?

Well, I didn’t read the article but logically there were not too many saints (as we understand the term) in the earliest church.

If one wanted to ask the Theotokos to pray for them they would just walk over to her house and ask, provided they lived near to her. Same for the apostles, they could meet them and ask for prayers, or perhaps send a letter. Otherwise they probably just prayed directly to God 🙂
