I got a question for the married people here. How or when did you realize that you had found the one that you would marry?

About three months after I had “met” him online (during the time we met in person). After he hugged me and I felt like I “fit” in his arms (there were obviously other reasons too, but at that moment I just felt like we were going to be together forever).

Well I knew SHE was the ONE, because she was so dang FINE.:yyeess:

I used to ask my mom that question. “How do you know?” She would just say, “You just know.” One day, I called my mom and said, “Remember when you said I’d know? I know.”

I would agree, I just knew. My wife and I would complete each other’s sentences, and know what the other was about to do. You’ll know when you meet someone is in sync with what you do.

The same for me, I just knew, there was no doubt in my mind whatsoever. We met at the end of March, and by May I knew.
Everyone we knew expected us to become engaged, and we did officially by October, although we had already been talking about it for months!🙂

the night we met. at the end of the evening i was asking her out for the weekend and wanting to ask her to marry me then and there.

You have a sense of peace when you are with them. You know when you don’t even have to ask yourself the question “Is this the one”

God Bless

Not married yet, but I knew I had met the one when, in our first month of dating, instead of wondering “hmm, could I see myself married to him?” I was wondering “how soon can we get married without people assuming I’m pregnant?”

I knew before we even started dating, in a subconscious, comfortable kind of way. We were friends for months before dating. I wasn’t in a huge hurry to start dating, either…I just had this very content feeling deep down that we were going to be together. Good think I didn’t verbalize it to HIM early on, though…I think it might have terrified the poor guy :bigyikes:

Thanks for all the replies.😃

The reason I asked is because my girlfriend and I have been together almost two months. And I know she is the girl I will marry. We are going to be practical and finish college first.
I just feel so peaceful about it. In ways if feels like I have known her my whole life. I can really use the words to describe what I feel for her. But I just know she is the girl. 😃 👍 😃 😃

Same for dh and I!! First met at an orientation camp for college - on returning home (after 3 days, he told his mum he had met the woman he was going to marry - he just ‘knew’ - I didn’t yet!) Later in the year, in a certain theology class, we were discussing the kingdom of God and it’s signifigance in our lives. The priest (lecturer) asked us for examples like Jesus had given in the gospels, likening it to something. Dh commented…the kingdom of God is like having dw in my life!😊 For the first time in my life,I was speechless. Needless to say, it wasn’t long after that, that we were engaged and then married, all within the space of a year. I still think that has had to be the most beautiful thing he’s ever said to me! We’ve been married for over 20 years now and have 3 beautiful childen.

All God’s richest blessings on your future plans, Bulldawg - May He always be there to accompany you on your journey together!

We’re not married yet (engaged), but within two months of meeting we had the following discussion,

Me: I just feel like I shouldn’t say anything, but if I don’t say anything then I feel like I’m ignoring it and if I ignore it it makes me so frustrated!

Him: Ummmm …?

Me: I can’t believe you don’t understand what I’m talking about!! I’m being as clear as possible without coming right out and making a fool of myself!

Him: Okay … ???

Me: Fine, I mean, I think I like you and I are a little more than dating, you know what I mean?!

Him: Ooh, you mean like … oh! Yeah, I think it’s too early for us to talk about that.

Me: But WHY? Because everyone would think we were crazy?

Him: Well yeah … but I mean … well, just between you and me, I know we’re supposed to get married.

We were engaged 6 months later and when we told our family/friends they all responded the same way: “FINALLY!” Finally, 8 months after having met each other, lol. I guess they just knew too!

Ours was a fireworks explosion, we meet at the end of February, and were married exactly 4 weeks later on March 26, 1966. And we have been married for over 42 years now and have 7 beautiful children, 25 wonderful grandchildren, and a great-grand about to make an appearance any day now. You could say we just knew, both of us at the same time.

We went on our first date, and got to the resturant at 6:00, what seems like only a few minutes later we looked up from conversation and the resturant was empty. Hy husband asked the waiter when they closed, and he said…“We already did sir, about an hour ago” … it was 11:45. I had never felt so comfortable, yet nervous around anyone in my life. It felt different than any other 1st date I had ever been on.

Few months later we knew it was serious, and were talking about forever…but we did opt to wait a couple more month before getting engaged. But we got married 15 months to the day from out 1st date.

I think on some level we knew that first night.

Met DH at 2 am and he left my friends’ apartment at 5. Knew then that if he asked me to marry him I’d say yes. Incredibly, he told his friends later that morning that he’d met the woman he was going to marry.

2 weeks later he asked me if I wanted a diamond for Christmas. I said “No, I don’t like jewelery, but I’ll marry you.”

We didn’t get married until 3 years later. For the first 8 months of those 3 years we saw each other almost every single day. Then, DH joined the military & I went off to nursing school and in the next 26 months we saw each other for a grand total of 40 days (a weekend here and there, 3 or 4 days at Christmas and the 5 days before our wedding). 2 weeks ago we celebrated our 33rd anniversary.
