Question for Mormons: Explain your practice of 'sealing' the departed?

How in the world could that possibly count as a valid marriage? As far as I know, both parties must consent and be willing to get married. How could a dead person give their full consent?.. Hmmm…
 
It’s kind of hard for the dead person to say, “I do.”

I have heard of claims that early Christians were baptized for the dead, but never married…I think that would be grounds for an annulment. 🤷
 
Jesus himself speaks about [the impossibility of] this:

Luke 20:34-35

And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage; but those who are accounted worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage”
 
As a former VERY devout Mormon, I never ever heard this or was taught this.

Not even the idea of “sealing” those who had died to each other, as is practice in today’s LDS temples, was taught to me was done in ancient times.

To me it sounds more like a comedy horror, like the Scary Movie series. Maybe we can get the Wayans brothers to make it.
