I tried googling this and I wasnt able to find a clear answer.

I am in my first trimester and I have very little symptoms (Thank you God)

The most annoying symptom I have is that I feel soooo weak. I just want to lay down all day. If I get up and try to do something I soon feel like I just want to lay down. My legs feel like jello. I know fatigue is a very common symptom in pregnancy, but I dont feel tired. I’m not sleepy at all, I’m just weak. Does this sound normal? I am hoping it has nothing to do with my blood pressure.

I dont have an appetite. I have to force myself to eat, everything in my fridge looks border line gross. Around dinner time my appetite comes back and I have been craving red meat and plain baked potatoes like crazy. Oh and lemons and salt. I cant get enough lemons and salt. Yesterday I ate 5 lemons. I even squeezed one into my water and added a bunch of sea salt. It was the most delicious thing ever lol

Anyways, I’m taking all my pills even extra b-12 and b-6 and alternating with an extra iron and calcium pill.

Is this weakness normal? I feel like I can get nothing done. I try to do something and than I want to go lay back down.

This is so weird too because the first 2 weeks of my pregnancy I had an insane amount of energy! I had never felt so good in my life.

Also, Ive been having giggling fits of laughter, yesterday I laughed until I cried and my stomach ached lol I get giggly just thinking about it. My husband thinks I’m insane lol

Sounds very familiar. It could be that you are anaemic and need iron. I’d go and see a doctor asap cos this is easily fixed.

Lack of iron can play a roll.

My wife ate liver during her pregnancy, she doesn’t like it but that is pregnancy I’m afraid.

It will all be worth it soon.

🙂

Honeybea when pregnant women have cravings its usually their bodys way of trying to get what they are lacking…so by craving salt your pregnancy may be leaving you dehydrated…dehydration can make you feel tired and weak
…low blood pressure and aneamia can also cause you to feel that way too…

Honeybea you may be safer seeing your doctor and getting checked over then it will put your mind at rest and they can sort out any issues if there are any

God bless you and your husband and your unborn baby 🙂

I’d see your doctor about the weakness. I don’t know if that’s normal or not, if you aren’t actually tired. I’m in my first trimester too, and I can barely lift my head off the pillow. Makes it really hard to keep up with work. But I’d describe it as fatigue, not weakness. I’d sleep all day if I could.

As for the appetite, sounds normal to me. Try to eat smaller meals/snacks throughout the day. It sounds counter-intuitive when you don’t want to eat anything, but it does help me (sometimes).

Definitely run this by your doctor. I had the same concerns during a few of my pregnancy and my doctor told me to increase my salt intake. Sodium is a natural electrolyte and I was depleting my supply by my increase fluid/water intake coupled with my normal reduced sodium diet I was left with no appetite, week-kneed and shaky at times. I had NO energy (different from being tired) and found it hard to find the strength to get my normal activities done without the need to sit and rest. I hadn’t been avoiding salt, I just used it sparingly in cooking (sea salt because the flavor is stronger with a less amount needing to be used, moderate use in baking, never adding to prepared food, etc.) I increased my salt intake and it was an instant turn around.

Check with your doctor. Your symptoms may be indicating another problem, but your desire for salt reminded me of my former cravings.

Interesting, because I normally adhere to a low salt diet as well. I avoid high sodium foods, I only use sea salt sparingly and I never salt prepared food etc. And I drink about 100 oz of water a day. This was the norm for me before I got pregnant and I kept this up until about 3 days ago and now I can’t get enough lemon and salt and baked potatoes plain with butter and salt. I want salt! lol I wonder if my reserves were not enough for the baby and I’m depleted. I upped my magnesium intake 2 days ago as well as potassium. So hopefully with the additional salt I will begin to feel better. You described exactly how I feel. Weak knee, shakes and light headed but not tired with no appetite.

Thanks!

I often just took about a teaspoon of salt straight when the weakness would come on. It was the oddest thing for me to do, as I had been so “trained” to eat a healthy diet that consisted of lower salt foods.

I hope your feel better soon!!

I’ve been drinking salt water…I squeeze an entire lemon in my water and add a bunch of salt. It’s something I’d never imagine doing. I don’t really care for salt especially when you have a low salt diet everything taste over salty to you. So this is vey strange for me indeed.

Thanks again : )
