Question for my Protestant brothers/sisters

What do you mean by the bolded? How is the UCC one of my communions, other than the fact that, they too, are Christian (which makes them one of your communions, too)?

I guess I can’t resist turning your question back on itself; is a church truly Christian if it does not uphold moral doctrine uniformly? I understand that they are not one of your communions, and they sure are’nt one of ours I don’t think of them as a Christian church. I get a very definite sense the UCC is more of political body than an organic Christian Church, you’ll have to scan the lists of the Lutheran Communions and see for yourself how many do not teach that there is an objective moral law inherently in Christ’s true Church.

Well, I was being charitable, regarding the UCC, since i find it difficult to disagree with your assessment of them. Regarding some Lutheran synods which have fallen into these same kinds of “problems”, I will use the same charity and say that, clearly, they have moved away from what scripture, the confessions, etc., say about them. I also know members of one of them, and know that many members reject these recent “swerves”.

Well our doors are always open to them as well, and you really never would have to worry about the Church you belong to defecting, it’s our promise and guarantee from our Lord Himself.

I’m new at my present church, so I don’t everything that’s gone on before. We are Episcopalian/Lutheran (dual TEC/ELCA affiliation) and “emergent” Anglo-Catholic with a lot of Benedictine influence. So, I don’t know if we’d had a Catholic priest speak, but I don’t think there’d be any real objection to it.
