I am asking because I would really like to get a definitive answer to the following questions, and who better to ask than our brothers and sisters belonging to the Orthodox Church.
- What is the normal procedure in the Eastern Orthodox Church for calling/establishing an ecumenical council, and would it be considered infallible, as was the case for the first 7 ecumenical councils, when the east and west were, for the most part, united?
- Is it true, regarding any potential ecumenical councils in the future, within Eastern Orthodoxy, that it would have to be unanimously accepted as being ecumenical by the assembly of all believers as well as church authority?
