There’s good Croatian food over on this thread:

Easter baskets .. Butter lambs! Eastern Catholicism
Thank you. I looked them up on Google and one blog says that in Dalmatia it’s called sirnica and in other parts pinca. Here’s where I found it:
Start from the top and you’ll get the full picture.

About the letter, I did not mean about the letter in which Padre Pio said Lefebvre would cause schism(I think it is a false letter too), I said the letter in which Padre Pio affirmed his love, obedience and humility towards the Pope(also mentioning Humanae Vitae)

And, when this pandemic is over, why not go to the Mass a few times, and maybe at other different churches. I know that abuses happen, and even though I didn’t attend a Tridentine Mass ever, I am sure that it is beautiful and powerful beyond words. Give the Novus Ordo some chances.

What would it take for Novus Ordo to retain it’s essence and become at least objectively equal?

This is something I have noticed too. I am pretty ttaditional in my beliefs and I do support Tridentine Mass… but in the end I am much more used to Novus Ordo and while occasionally I attend Tridentine Mass, I objectively prefer Novus Ordo if celebrated according to rubrics (Ad Orientem would be great but nobody does that here).

That said, I absolutely despise abuses done out of false respect for the people or in attempt to get their their approval. For example spamming EP II even during Sundays so Mass lasts shorter and people can go home… letting laity who aren’t altar serving into Sanctuary. Spamming acolytes and EMCHs while denying true essence of acolytes (according to rubrics they should serve at the altar too and only sometimes distribute Holy Communion, but here they never do the first but always the second) etc…

Not anything. Sign of peace is beloved by people (yes, if it got moved to different part of Mass it would be nice), concelebration can happen, prayers are no longer silent and Liturgy feels more “public” as all sacraments ought to be. Active participation of faithful by singing and praying with Priest is also a plus (now I do not mean over-participation). Vernacular is a huge difference too. Would I start with Latin Mass as a convert it would take me much bigger timeframe to actually understand what is going on.

That said, elaborate rituals of EF and all the prayers not present in OF also give EF an advantage. I do not view OF as superior to EF either.

Rose, I am really grateful for you contributions to this forum. It is impressive how you always “grab the bull by the horns,” and articulate your position with clarity, faith, charity, and sound reason. Even if I could do the same, I dont think that I could ever muster the patience. 🙂

According to the article published by Catholic Answers, SSPX clergy and laity are individually in full communion with Rome.
Bottom line…if you need to go to confession and your parish canceled the Sacrament but a local SSPX is still providing the Sacrament…do you go?

Coming from someone who has been hesitant to follow the SSPX, and even at one point considered them schismatics. I must say that after looking at the mess the church was and is currently undergoing I would say that Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre was justified in ordaining the bishops he ordained. I would even say that the excommunications where invalid, as Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre had a valid reason to worry about the future of his society. Let us not forget that the Traditionalist during the early years after the liturgical changes where heavily restricted from attending the Traditional Mass. Let us not forget that Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre was a faithful servant of the church prior and after the ordination of the bishops. He served as a missionary in Africa with the Holy Ghost fathers and was essential to setting up a strong base in Africa. He saw what the traditional liturgy can do to people. How the mystery of the Mass of ages can convert peoples heart.

I know. It’s too bad Rose has been suspended due to her posts on this thread.

You’d be surprised. I’ve been to SSPX priests for confession and have always received good advice from them.

If the only priest around was a SSPX priest, I’d definitely ask him to hear my confession.

The posts that contained the anti-Catholic comments I was referring to have been removed, and the poster has been suspended, which says something about their content. I think that posts that accuse the Pope of vile things should be called out for what they are. I also think that posters on a Catholic forum (not referring to you) should not be surprised if extreme, defamatory and false comments about the Church and her leaders are met with a strong reaction.

I can agree with the call for respect, but it rings allow after the calumny about the Church that was posted in that thread.

That PRIEST whom you refer to was only expressing the opinions of Pope Emeritus Benedict.

Under John Paul, for instance, the Assisi gatherings were billed as moments of prayer. That led to criticism from Catholics who worried that such a public interreligious exercise flirted with syncretism and relativism. One such voice belonged to then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who was quoted after the 1986 event as saying, “This cannot be the model.”
I agree said Priest could have been more charitable, but to call him Anti-Catholic is ridiculously inflammatory

As you know, we can no longer access the posts in question, but I recall more vitriol than is found in that NCR article.
