You have received many great answers to your 6 year old’s questions, but I thought of something else that you might tell him. We learned in catechism class as first graders that God made us to “know, love, and serve Him in this life so that we would be happy with Him in the next.” You can tell your son (or daughter if I am wrong) that God loves him very much, and wants him to know Him. That is why He, God, is putting these questions into his head! Suggest that when he says his prayers that he ask God for the grace to learn to know Him better, to pay attention to his parents, his teachers, the priest and the scripture readings at Mass. He is old enough for a children’s bible, and the lives of the saints books that the Daughters of Saint Paul sell for young readers. The saints are God’s heroes, and they had lots of questions too. Maybe the Lord has special plans for a child who exhibits such curiosity at such a young age, and it should be nurtured. God bless you for having such a wonderful child.
