Marriage for convenience.
No, I mean marriage. I’m married and honestly don’t view sex as the defining aspect of it.I think you mean companionship but not marriage. Companionship maybe good for those not into sexual relationship.
Marriage for love, actually.Marriage for convenience.
I’m asexual though, so sexual attraction is never going to be part of my marriage.I think so too. It’s a part of marriage.
Yep. A small percent of folks just don’t have a sexual attraction. I’ve had my hormone levels checked twice (normal), never had any traumatic experience that would lead to repression, and just never had a sexual attraction to anyone in my 32 years of life. It’s weird, and is rather like to experience attraction just to know why everyone’s so hung up on it, but it’s not the way I work.Is that really possible? We are human beings.
It’s okay, it’s certainly not the majority. It has it’s benefits, I mean I’ve never struggled with lust and I was never distracted by crushes. My husband isn’t but they’ve been with me for years, our marriage isn’t based on sex.I’m sorry but I think that’s not normal. At least I know now that there are people like that. Is your wife just like you? No offense.
Yeah, we’ve been together for 6 years now and were friends for 7 years before that. Sex isn’t everything. So you mean your marriage works without sex?
What makes you think that people who support same-sex marriage have been brainwashed or are ignorant? Did it ever occur to you that perhaps they genuinely believe that gay men and lesbians should be allowed to marry members of their own sex and that forbidding this has been an injustice? Of course, other people also have the right to believe that same-sex marriage should not be allowed and I wouldn’t claim that those who are opposed to same-sex marriage have been brainwashed or are ignorant just because they have views different from my own. What happens though in the case where people are pretty much “culturally brainwashed” to believe that gay marriage is a right and that anyone who is against it is a bigot?
I live in Australia and its like if you have a different view,(ie:that marriage is between a man and a woman) then you are the one that is thought as being discriminatory etc…
What I’m trying to ask (not very eloquently) is where does personal ignorance begin and end vs social construct cultural “brainwashing”?
