I go to Mass to pray it. What is the correct reason in your opinion Emperor ?
Look, understand the desire by many here for tradition. But tradition separated from the Church is useless. Traditions are meant to unite us with Christ through His Church. So why go to a “traditional catholic” (intentionally small-c) parish? Just for the sake of a Mass in a tradition one prefers? Ultimately we should seek communion with Christ, to become one with Him. Thats the whole point of Liturgy and traditions. And going to a parish thats not in communion with the Pope does not accomplish that.

Your post is useless here because no one here is promoting the chapel, nor are there members of the chapel posting here.

The OP, a new member btw, who’s thread is now hijacked, expressed interest in a diocesan parish in his most recent post, not the chapel. Also, the one who gave him a straight answer, myself, is a member of a diocesan parish who attends both forms.

Did you miss the part about the OP being encouraged to call the diocesan parish offering the EF ?

Again, no issue here, you just want there to be one so you can warn someone. Go argue with the Dimond brothers if you want to refute a distorted view.

I know you’re thinking I’m trying to start a ruckus here. But that is not my intention. What I desire is for a unitive thinking among all Catholics. You wouldn’t go to an OF Mass because the priest makes up his words to Mass or the choir sings songs of questionable theology. Why then would you go to a Mass where the priest refuses communion with the Church? Is the form of Liturgy more important than the Body of Christ which is the Church? What use is a more solemn Liturgy adherent to hundreds of years of tradition if its completely removed from the Body of Christ? Did Christ not condemn traditions where people lose sight of their meaning, and it is to bring us closer to God?

I think PV has been around long enough to know that. 😉
😉

I’m only familiar with three “independent” priests, one even a married priest ordained in the Eastern rite celebrating the EF, so I can’t generalize for all of them. One would be wise to check out the priest; it would probably be wisest to talk to his bishop to see if he’s in full communion with Rome. One of my associates even went abroad to visit the bishop in person to make sure things were legitimate. Things were in his case.

As I said, sometimes there are old civil contracts that have to be honored so even if the priest wanted to go back to his diocese, he couldn’t without civil repercussions.

There may be priest who claim such a thing but no bishop has any power within the diocese of another bishop.

Regardless of civil contracts there is Canon Law. To celebrate the Mass within a diocese a priest needs faculties from the local ordinary. To have a chapel with reservation of the Eucharist one needs the approval of the local ordinary.

Thanks trent… I did not mean to open up a can of worms. Due to my question I found a another Tlm option that is close to my home that I drove right pass everyday I never knew it offered a Tlm. Very grateful -thanks

Cardinal Hoyos has been to Econe more than once I believe. That an endorsement ?
When Jesus dined with publicans and sinners, did He endorsed their sin?

The Church expects the SSPX members to ask for the suspension and return from the disobedience.

No biggie, we just like to argue lol.

You talking about the hospital ?

No, Jesus didn’t endorse sin. But that is my point. Cardinal Hoyos doesn’t endorse the SSPX seminary just because he’s been there.

Ask for suspension ? I’m not sure what you mean.

So making statements like “I’ve been there a few times” is not an endorsement?
He was just being honest, he has been there. He gave him information about the other tlm I honestly don’t see where he went wrong.

Not talking about SSPX (except maybe former SSPX) here. We’re talking about legitimate priests reporting to legitimate bishops, and probably helped by the 2007 SP. The one priest I know of has pictures of himself with the Pope (JPII) all over his chapels walls with actual blessings by the Pope on the shrine there. Not kidding.

The original poster asked a question about a Kentucky shrine, run by an independent priest. He is not legitimate. Fr. Gavin Bitzer is OSJ associate

Being on the list of the priests of a diocese makes one legitimate, not any picture about blessing or whatever.

Thats nice. But photos and blessings from the Pope is all for naught if one considers himself “independent” today. Not speaking specifically of the priest you are talking about, but any priest. A good relationship with the Church in the past doesn’t guarantee communion forever. Sinners can repent, and the holy can fall down and sin.
