I have been hearing rumors that the pope is going to unite the Eastern Orthodox Church back with the Holy See. Is this true? I wanted to know if somebody can elaborate on that. God Bless!
The Pope can’t unilaterally unite the CC with the Eastern Orthodox. The Eastern Orthodox would have to accept Catholic doctrines as consistent with Orthodox doctrine, and, currently, that is not the case, and will not be the case any time soon.I have been hearing rumors that the pope is going to unite the Eastern Orthodox Church back with the Holy See. I hope so, do you? It is my dream…dont you?I have been hearing rumors that the pope is going to unite the Eastern Orthodox Church back with the Holy See. Is this true? I wanted to know if somebody can elaborate on that. God Bless!

… or it is always possible that the Papacy will retract the new dogmas and declare them non-binding theological opinions …The Pope can’t unilaterally unite the CC with the Eastern Orthodox. Yes. There is always that. But, you can always hope.
My current list of dogmas of faith for the Catholic church numbers to 251.… or it is always possible that the Papacy will retract the new dogmas and declare them non-binding theological opinions …
… but probably not.
Yes. There is always that.
Well, Eastern Orthodox Christians disagree on a couple. My current list of dogmas of faith for the Catholic church numbers to 251.

My presumption would be that the Coptic Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria would become the Patriarch. Because, despite the fact that the Coptic Patriarchate has been outside of Communion with Rome for some time, the Coptic Pope can trace his succession to St. Mark (who, according to Tradition, established the Church in Alexandria), whereas the Coptic Catholic Patriarch cannot; i.e., he was put in place outside the direct “line of succession”.Minor problem: Say the Coptic Orthodox Church decided to come into Communion with RomeD). The Coptic Catholic Church already has a patriarch. Where would the current patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox church go?
Also, would all of their “saints” become recognized in the Catholic Church, or wuld they become null and void![]()
His proper title is Pope of Alexandria.Minor problem: Say the Coptic Orthodox Church decided to come into Communion with RomeD). The Coptic Catholic Church already has a patriarch. Where would the current patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox church go?
