I attend a Church in New York. This weekend we had a visiting priest who was standing in for our regular pastor who was away on business. When it came time for everyone to kneel, he invited the teens (as this is a Mass for Teens; Life Teen) up to the altar to stand around it and witness the consecration up close. I have heard that this is “illegal” according to Catholic Doctrine. Is this true? I tried to think back to a book I read ( as I am an Altar server, Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister, etc.) called “Mass Confusion”, to see if this is considered a liturgical abuse. I consider it to be an abuse as the main focus is to remain and be Jesus coming alive in the Eucharist. Us teens are a distraction at that point, from the true Jesus performing a miracle before our very souls. Please tell me if I am correct in my views. Please, also provide me with a section of literature that can help me to prove this point when I am asked questions on this topic. Thank you
God Bless
