I have a question on the theology behind the Eucharistic Miracles. If they are authentic, and if the Eucharist becomes the whole Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus, why do all the ones where the bread’s accidents actually transform only have them become the flesh of a certain body part - I think Lanciano is only heart flesh? Why might this be?

It is just the way God chose to perform that particular miracle. As to why He chose heart tissue, my thought is that the heart is connected to love in our human language.

BTW, once the Eucharistic species no longer retains the accidents of bread or wine, it is no longer the Body, Blood, Soul & Divinity of Christ; Our Lord’s Eucharistic presence ceases. The miraculous host in Lanciano, once it took on the accidents of human flesh and ceased to have those of bread, was no longer the body and blood of Our Lord.

Well, if authentic, it would still be a small piece of the our Lord’s human body and blood. Otherwise, whose body is it?

I suppose it’s possible God only chose to show PART of the whole set, or that he changed the accidents to only partially match the substance.

You would have to ask God.
It doesn’t have to be part of someone who is or was a person.

Well, you arent going to have the bread turn into a mini Jesus and begin to walk around. So, it would need to be from a particular part of the body. Apparently God thought the best part would be the heart. Similarly, if someone was going to fake it they would just take a round part of flesh they would probably use flesh instead of a practically complete heart. So, it actually further proves the miracle in a sense.
