I have a friend whose faith is shaken by recently going to a Baptist Church to watch her nephew in a Christmas program. She is Catholic, but during the program which was within a church service, the pastor criticized the Catholic Church on many issues, but there is one she has a question. This Baptist pastor says that Catholic say that Gn 3:15 says “she will crush his head” but that it should be “he will crush…” She said she checked the Douay Rheims version and it says “she” but that other newer versions say “he.” She was taught in her studies that the Douay Rheims is not accurate in its interpretation. This was from Scott Hahn.
She wants to know how to answer her sisters’ question who is the Baptist. By the way, my friend does have a degree in Theology and studied at Franciscan University in Steubenville and is very orthodox, but doesn’t remember the answer to this one. She is getting older.
Please help so I can help her. Thanks in advance for your help.
