Question on gift for Priest's anniversary?

I had read something about this June being a month to show our appreciation for our priests. It happens to coincide with the 6th anniversary of my priest’s ordination anniversary.

Is it alright to present him with a small gift? And what kind of gift would be appropriate?

We are already planning on having a parish party for our oldest parisioner (it will be her 96th birthday) along with a celebration of his 6th anniversary. It will be a shared event for both of them.

I welcome any comments and suggestions.

I give Christmas gifts to our priests every year. One year it was a bottle of wine; another year it was Starbucks gift card. Maybe call his secretary for suggestions? What a nice idea to celebrate the birthday of your oldest parishioner! How sweet.
 
In fact, I recently received a Visa gift card, of sorts. It works like a debit card and the buyer adds whatever amount he/she wants. Those are very nice as one can use them everwhere.
 
Many people give priests food/candy gifts, liquor, etc. (having worked at a church once I know this). I would go with a gift card to a major book store, website, etc.
 
You also could give him a spiritual bouquet or have a Mass said in his honor.
 
Our pastor just celebrated his 35th ordination anniversary. We gave him a check! That way he can get what he likes/needs or use for a charity if he desires. We know this priest and love him dearly, but we aren’t such close friends that we would know exactly what he might like. Also, I know the rectory is over-run with food gifts at Christmas time and I suspect for events like this also. We also always promise to pray some rosaries for them (as well as remembering them in our morning prayers every day).

I would not give food or candy ( maybe the liquor). from experience most of the parishes I’ve worked for food gifts end up in the office for those of us who work here.
 
Find out what his favorite charity is, and make a donation (monetary or volunteer time) in his name. 👍 Someone once did that for me, and it was by far the most meaningful gift I’d ever received.
 
Thank you all for your suggestions. I think you’re right about the food. I’m sure many of my fellow parisioners will already be bringing plenty of food.

I was just remembering that his favorite saint is St Therese so maybe I can find something along those lines. Certainly a card with one of her quotations would be nice.

His home country is France and I know he must miss everything French but, of course, he never complains. His sermons all have a very strong french accent and his attempts at english sometimes crack us up. Very endearing.

I like the idea of calling the staff in his office and asking them for anything he might like or need.

I already have a jewelry gift in mind for Lessie, our 96 year old birthday girl.🍰

It should not be too difficult to find out what little things your parish priest really likes. Ours is a kayaker and fisherman.

Some are avid readers. Some are techies.

Gift cards. We give gift cards to sporting goods stores. Restaurants too.
