CCPoisonIvy started this thread, and their question was answered.

I’m not going to take the thread off topic any further, especially since it seems to be causing discomfort for the OP. I would like to pursue some of the (off topic) points raised, but I believe we should do so in another thread. It’s very sensitive issue for those directly affected.

Now would be a great time to learn how to unsubscribe to a thread… Anyone?

Thank you very much for your compassionate responses.

The back and forth that has gone on IS silly bickering. I came to this forum hoping for respect, guidance, and hope. Answers to my questions and, knowing that everyone here isn’t Catholic, maybe an educated point of view from the opposite side.

Instead my thread was hijacked and fights broke out. I understand I don’t “own the thread”, but I have seen others closed at the OP’s request. That is what I was hoping to do here. So although it isn’t “my” thread, there is a history of that happening from what I researched on this forum.

Yes, it is our duty as Catholics to point out, with the love and grace Jesus gave us, when a Catholic is straying from the teachings. I know this. But this topic is, from what I have found from other threads, very difficult to stay on task when discussing. So, maybe a PM would be a good idea to try?

Again, thank you so much for everything. And God’s Blessings!

Wow. I am truly sorry.

Wanna know what I say? I say GO FOR IT!

21 years ago (will be 22 in June), my own mother was faced with a similar scenario. Her antibodies attacked my father’s sperm. It was not her fault, nor was it her fault. She prayed and prayed. She tried fertility drug after fertility drug, and nothing worked. She thought about IVF, but knew that the Church would not like it, so she prayed and prayed some more until she decided that God would forgive her. The priest told her she would go to Hell and that I would be the Devil’s Child. She said she would only do it one time, and if it didn’t work, then they wouldn’t try that again.

Well, as you can tell, I am here. I am proud that I am a test-tube baby. I know back in 1989 it cost my parents $25,000 to have me, because they were thinking about naming me after a car they could have bought with that money (I thank God everyday for them not naming me that).

You do what is right for you and your husband. If you want a baby, you do all you can do make that baby happen. If God can forgive a woman for aborting a baby because of medical situations, rape, etc. then God will forgive you (even though I don’t feel you are sinning) for trying to bring another Disciple into this world to spread His Word. I will certainly pray for you, and I would love to hear about your beautiful child once he/she comes into this world.

To the others that said it is a “grave” sin, thanks, that truly meant a lot to me! I guess I am a sin after all. I guess I better quit teaching PREP, attending Mass regularly, quit my SVdP chapter, you know, since I am the Devil’s Child. Which is quite a surprise since my now priest says I am a blessing and told my mom that he is proud of her for not submitting on her dreams.

God Bless you and your husband! Do not listen to what others say is “right” or “wrong”. If you feel it in your heart that this is the right thing to do, then do it and don’t question it. It is the Big Man upstairs that put that feeling in your heart in the first place.

God Bless.
