I’m a new Catholic as of January and didn’t know whether the Knights Templar is an organization that is sanctioned by the Church. Can anyone help?

They don’t exist any more, they haven’t for hundreds of years

As others have said the Knights Templar haven’t existed since the 14th century. The Knights of Malta (Hospitallers) and the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre still exist, but are more or less invitation-only affairs, though with opportunities to volunteer as something other than a full member.

Here’s their Wikipedia articles:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_Military_Order_of_Malta
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knights_of_the_Holy_Sepulchre

If you are interested in joining a men’s fraternal service organization with a chivalrous spirit, let me suggest the Knights of Columbus:

kofc.org/en//index.html

Google Knights Templar and you’ll find several links but be careful as there is a group of Masons who have begun using the K.Templar symbols.

It looks good but be careful. As you know Masons and Catholics don’t mix.

If the OP is referring to the Masonic order, then, no - it’s not allowed by the Church. The prohibition no longer mentions Freemasonry by name, but it’s still not allowed.

Don’t the Knights Templar still secretly exist to protect the Holy Grail?

At least that is what Indiana Jones told me…

Seems purposely vague concerning its own history. It wouldn’t sound nifty to hear it was created by John McSomebody in 1998.

Here’s another Knights Templar organization which at least merits mention in Wikipedia:

smotj.org/
osmth.org/
I just thought that might have been what the OP was referring to rather than the ones that don’t exist anymore;) I googled it - I know nothing about them:o
