I’m not Catholic, but I am Christian. My path is taking a decided turn towards the Catholic Church, and I pray the Rosary often and the Divine Mercy Chaplet daily. I am working on developing the discipline for daily recitation for the Rosary, but I’m still falling short of the mark.

My question (or at least, the question for today :o ) is, is it acceptable to ‘layer’ prayers?

For example, when I pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet, what I will also recite after each decade is an “Oh My Jesus”, a “Hail Mary”, ask the Saints to intercede for me, and then ask that Jesus shower His Mercy on the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Then I start the next decade.

I wasn’t sure if that was allowed, or if it lessened the prayer I was saying. Is this all right, in your opinion, or am I doing something that would make Jesus frown?

I would say that there’s no “right” way to pray the rosary or divine mercy chaplet. I often find myself adding the Glory Be and Oh My Jesus between the decades of the divine mercy chaplet.

May God’s peace, love and mercy be with you and to all!

What a great grace and blessing that Our Good Lord Jesus Christ is drawing you closer to Him!

A prayer is a conversation between us and God. So, you can make the prayer your own by adding to it, however the Holy Spirit moves you to.

May God continuously guide and enlighten you as you search for His Truth, and as you journey back home to God, with the help, prayers and protection of Our Blessed Mother Mary, all the angels, archangels, the saints and the poor souls in Purgatory.

God bless!

Blessed be Jesus and Mary!

Excellent responses in this thread to date…prayer is simply the raising of the heart and mind to God. I am sure, very very sure, that Our Lord is not at all a stickler for so called correct routine and methods whatever such is…nor anyone else in Heaven. Be very confident in the way you are praying, it is an excellent method and as you are moved by The Holy Spirit…a truly excellent method and the best of all methods I think.

Amen! Amen and well said!..

Thanks, everyone! I do appreciate the encouragement and opinions. I just sometimes haven’t anyone to ask about these things just yet…and I just wanted to be sure about things.
