Question on Romans 1: 17?

Dear All:

I am looking for a really touch answer. So, let me say thank you in advance.
Here is the question: In Septuagint Habakkuk 2: 4 says that “If any man should shrink back, My soul will not be well pleased in him; but the righteous shall live by My faith.”

When St. Paul quotes this verse in Romans 1: 17 it comes in as the righteous man will live by faith.

Are there Greek or Vulgate manuscripts that quote the Septuagint’s version in Romans 1: 17?

I’m not sure, but why would there be a need to quote directly from Habakkuk?

The words in the letter to the Romans are the words of the author, not the prophet, so if he paraphrased the prophet you can connect (as you have done) where he probably got the thought from.
 
Heb 10:39 is a direct quote of Hab. 2:4, “we are not those who
shrink back and are lost, but instead we have faith and are saved”.
What the author of Heb. is saying is that we must not doubt God,
what He says about Jesus, the Scriptures which testify of His
death and resurrection. God wants ALL to be saved and come
to a knowledge of the truth of the Gospel, it is NOT a man con-
ceived message, it is God’s reaching out to us in Love and
mercy b/c God’s Love is unconditional and covenantel thru
the blood of the eternal Covenant God made w/ us on the
cross.
 
Dear All:
I made a big mistake. The Hebrew clearly states that the just man will live by God’s faith!

So sorry!

I would think then in Romans 1: 17 the faith that St. Paul mentions is God’s faith.
