Question on St. Therese of The Child Jesus

Was St. Therese a part of the calced or discalced carmelites? I couldn’t find it online and wondered where I could find some info on her.
 
A discalced Carmelite priest or religious has the letters OCD after his/her name, while the Calced have O.Carm.
The OCD’s follow the Rule of St. Teresa of Avila, which was modified by Vatican2 and the O.Carm’s follow the original and ancient rule for Carmel written by St. Albert.
But dont let these two distinctions confuse things. The O.Carm’s have a great appreciation and love of St. Teresa and the OCD’s a great appreciation and love of St. Albert and the Ancient Rule of Carmel.
Discalced means “no shoes” and “calced” means “with shoes”…the Discalced wear sandals usually as do a lot of O’Carm’s.

We, O.Carm., are not really properly addressed as Calced. Our orders name is Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel.

Actually both O.Carm. and O.C.D. follow the Rule of St Albert. The O.C.D. follow the Constitutions that were written by St Teresa of Avila. She did not write a new rule.

By the way, it is the 800th Anniversary of the Carmelite Rule this year.

The big difference is that we see them as sister and brother while the O.C.D. see then as founderess and founder.

Thank you for the info and refining and correcting the information I gave…and also a happy anniversary to you - can you tell me the exact date you are celebrating the 800th Year of The Rule of St. Albert (is this what is actually being celebrated?)

It is being celebrated this year. Our General Chapter just ended and they did somethings there for it. We had a special talk on the Rule in January at our student gathering and the Carmelite Institute had a conference in July on the Prophetic Dimensions of the Carmelite Rule.

It is being celebrated over the course of the year and it may go into next year as we do not have an actual date of when the Rule was written just a time frame of about 1206 to 1214. St Albert gave the rule when he was Patriarch of Jerusalem which he became in 1206 (I believe that is the year) and he will killed in 1214, so the Rule had to come in that time period. The out going General Counsel picked this year to get it all started so that the new General Counsel would not have to do it while they are still learning their way around things and I am sure that the Disclaced had a say in it too.
