Hello , what my question on the Byzantine Church is how long is the Byzantine Catholic Divine Liturgy? What is the Byzantine Catholic divine liturgy like?

God bless

It varies, but usually a Byzantine Divine Liturgy will last at least an hour. Archbishop Joseph Raya once said that a good Liturgy should last at least an hour and a half. 😃

From a bird’s-eye view, the structure of the DL is the same as that of the Mass. You have some opening rites followed by readings and a homily, then comes the Eucharistic rites promptly followed by the dismissal. The details, however, are almost completely different from the Roman Rite. All the prayers are different, the setting is different, the singing is different, etc., etc., etc. The best way to find out is simply to go. 😛

If you’re interested, you might want to tune into the Byzantine Divine Liturgy broadcast every Sunday at 9 a.m. Eastern Time from McKees Rocks, PA on WEDO radio.

The station does do the webcast thing, so you can tune in wherever you are.
