How about writing him a sealed note and hand delivering it to the Rectory.
Let him know that it is imperative that you talk to him ASAP.
My guess guess though is that since he is so busy and this is his first Parish he’ll probably just refer you to the diocese anyway.

👍 That is a wonderful idea !!! You’re right that he would most likely refer me to the diocese.

Good idea because if he then does refer you to the Diocese then it won’t appear that you are “going around him”;).
Exactly what I was concerned about, the “going around him” problem !!!

You all have given me some excellent advise and I appreciate it.Our deacon stopped me after RICA class last night to ask if I had contacted father regarding our five year old grandson’s baptism. Father had asked the deacon if we were legally our grandson’s guardians (we adopted shortly after birth). I told him no and he wasn’t surprised at our inability to contact father. We first asked about this in late July !

I’ve been so concerned with the annulment problem that I had temporarily forgotten about the baptism issue. They had planned on his baptism co-insiding with bringing us into the church.

I appreciate your suggestions which I plan on doing post haste !!! Your prayers would be most appreciated.
God Bless

You’ve got our prayers and best wishes.

Have a fine Thanksgiving too.

RE: the Baptism of your Grandson, since it appears you must wait for your annulment (decree of nullity) then talk to the Deacon and see if he can do the Baptism. Deacons are allowed to perform the Sacrament of Baptism (lay people are too in cases of emergency) and are allowed to preside over Marriages.

He might even be able to help you with the annulment proceedings! Ask him to help you with it.

Oh, and since you want to talk to your Priest about the Baptism include in your sealed note about that too! Ask if it would be okay to ask the Deacon to perform the Baptism to take some of the time pressure off of your Priest;).

I currently have my annulment before our Tribunal. My advocate is a Sister in our Parish. If you cannot schedule a meeting with your priest is there a nun in your diocese that will work with you? Sister helped me so, so much. It is worth checking into. My former spouse has chosen not to participate in the annulment process and said he wants no further contact with the Tribunal. He was a Baptist minister when we divorced 28 years ago. I have been remarried for 25yrs to a wonderful man who was a non-practicing Catholic during our courtship and most of our marriage. He’s been led back to the Catholic Church through the power of the Holy Spirit and I’m sure the prayers of his recently deceased parents who I believe should be made Saints in Heaven. I have recently been converted and begin RCIA this coming Monday. My husband is also working on his annulment through our Diocese. I believe you have gotten some wonderful advise from this forum. I will be praying for you. I would also appreciate your prayers.

Blessings to You,

Welcome to the forums! It was really very nice of you to make these suggestions to the original poster. If you look closely, however, you will realize that this all happened in the year 2007! 🙂 The moderators ask us not to bring back these very old threads, even if we have a similar topic to discuss. In that case, it’s best to start a new one.

Looking forward to seeing you around!
