The version I’m reading is the NIV (I’m in the process of converting).

I understand that “her” offspring is Jesus. But who is the serpent’s offspring (or seed)? Thanks.

Gn 3:15 (RSV)
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel

From my reading “your seed” would mean followers ofsatan (all evil doers)

Here is a reflection and teaching by Dr Scott Hahn & his team.

Q) In Hebrew thought, men have “seed,” not women.
The phrase, “her seed,” is highly irregular.
-What question does it lead you to ask?

R) Can this mean, God’s creation of Mary?
Mary’s virginity and immaculate conception?

The question this phrasing provokes is:
Why is there, no husband mentioned in this scenario?
The only “he” is the seed of the woman not her mate.
How can a woman have a child without a husband?

=====

Q) The “seed” of the “woman” will bruise the head of the serpent, while the serpent will bruise his heel.
-What is the difference between these two kinds of wounds?

R) The head would suggests one that completely incapacitates.
What else does a serpent have to keep him in action besides his head?

A bruise on the heel, although painful and aggravation is not one that would end the life of a man.

=====
Q) If the serpent, Satan, is a fallen angel, and the “seed” is able to overcome him,
-what does this indicate about the kind of power the “seed” will have?
-What makes this profoundly unusual?

R) Angels are Spiritual beings, higher than humans. Yet the “seed” Jesus in perfect humanity is powerful to overcome the Spiritual beings.

Power to overcome an angel would have to be divine power.
Yet, the “seed” will be a human being born of a woman.
How can this be?

Happy thinking & God Bless

John 8:42-44 (New International Version)
42Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. 43Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Satan’s seed are unregenerate people who want to carry out the devils’ desires – murder, lying, false testimony.

THE SERPENT’S SEED: would have a double meaning just as all the other persons mentioned in Genesis 3:15.
  1. Individually and ultimately it would be a single person: the Antichrist or the “man of sin” or the Beast of the Apocalypse who will arise in the last days.
  2. collectively and representatively it would be the biblical “sons of men” mentioned in Genesis or all who “dwell on the earth” mentioned in Revelation, or to be more exact all those who follow the devil and give allegience to him in one way or another. In this sense the seed is the “personification” of an entire group of people just as the woman or Mary the Mother of the Church is the type and personification of all the People of God including Israel and the Church. I hope that helps.
    The same 4 persons reappear in another vision in Rev. 12:1-17 where again it is 2 against 2. You need to choose to be on the right side…the side of life…the side of the woman and her son…the side of Jesus and Mary…the side of Christ and his Church.
