Lk 24:28 “He gave the impression that he was going on farther,”

How serious an impression was it?
Was he leading them onward, or did he instead want to remain with them?

Another possibility: “farther” signifies even more expansive opening of the scriptures somehow available only beyond the village?"

Literal or figurative?

I don’t think this is all that mysterious.

He made like He was going on so that they would ask Him to stay with them. Remember, at this point, they had not yet recognized Him.
