English is not my native language, I’m sorry for any misspellings.

Sense Mary was born without the original sin, why didn’t Joseph born without the original sin too?

Before I find out about Mary’s sinless nature I thought that the reason Jesus Christ didn’t have physical father is so he don’t get the original sin, but now, why didn’t Joseph get sinless too and Jesus Christ would born from two parents that are sinless naturally?

This might sound weird and actually it does too me, so that is why I’m confused.

Joseph was to take care of Mary.

From Matthew 1:

18 Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah* took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.

Mary was overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit:

From Luke 1:

35 The angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born[d] will be holy; he will be called Son of God.*

Your question is kind of like another that asks “if Mary had to be sinless so that Jesus could be sinless, then wouldn’t Mary’s mother have to be sinless too? And then her grandmother?”

The reason that Jesus did not suffer from original sin, is because he is God. Even if Mary had been a sinner, Jesus would not have any stain of sin.

Mary was protected from original sin because it was fitting for God to do that for her. A good Jewish boy like Jesus would honor his mother by protecting her from harm.

God said that the Messiah would have a miraculous birth, and there’s nothing particularly miraculous about a baby being conceived in the usual way. So whether or not Joseph was sinless, that’s a different matter.

Jesus is God Incarnate. He was true God because he was conceived of the Holy Spirit and true man because he was born of the Virgin Mary.

If Joseph was his biological father, Jesus would not be God and man, but just man. And just a man as a sacrifice on the cross would be insufficient to atone for our sins.

It is because Jesus was man that his sacrifice for the sins of man could be offered.

It is because Jesus was God that his sacrifice was infinite to atone for the infinite offense given to God by our sins.

Were Joseph to communicate his genes to Christ, as the biological Father, then yes he would’ve required a sinless, immaculate conception. The scriptures & the Fathers & the Church tell us, however, that the Holy Spirit of God formed the child in the womb of the blessed virgin Mary. God the Father is The Father of Christ, through whose Spirit the incarnation took place.

Since Christ is a divine person, he cannot contract original sin - the condition of a dark intellect, a weak will, and disobedience to God. That would be contradictory. Mary was conceived sinless & immaculate because God wanted a dwelling place utterly pure and perfect for Himself: no stain of sin, or of man in her womb. That is the purpose of the sinlessness of the Mother of God - not so she would communicate sinlessness to Jesus, but so the Perfect One could be born in a perfect womb. 🙂

His royal dignity demands it.

I guess the whole question is: why couldn’t Jesus be born of a human (sinless or not) father and mother? In such a scenario, would it have been impossible for Jesus to have a divine nature and a human sinless nature? No, because nothing is impossible for God. Then why didn’t He give Jesus two human (sinless or not) parents? We simply don’t know; this was His choice.

I think the Womb of our Lady Mary is the question

The Holy Spirit come onto Her

A man doesn’t have a womb

As for the miracle of a Virgin giving to birth, science can also make a clone from a single cell…it’s possible

Joseph is not the father of Jesus Christ. He has no earthly father. His Father is God the Father.
