Thanks for the link, it was a great
read, what a wonderful, loving God
we have!!

Tho what Father said in his article is true, it is really about the consequences of free will choosing good or evil.

However another slant on this is what St John said about Judas in his gospel…“he went to his own place”. Each builds his own kingdom, his own place. By a life of goodness or the reverse.

Or as Jesus said that we should lay up treasures in heaven by our good works. Which if taken in the reverse means that we also lay of meseries for ourselves in hell by our evil works.

We are making our own bed.

Although it is true by one mortal sin we are liable. Yet in practise, I wonder if Our Lord would not give that person who lives a good life another chance. I don’t deny one mortal act is enough, but whether this is carried out over a good life is dificult to conceive.

What it all centers on is the way a person loves God or is lukewarm about it. For at the time of death, so many seem to default to the feelings they had while living. And that is the way they accept their death. If lukewarm then indifferent. If evil, then unrepentant. If caring, then sorrow. The little acts of intention toward God or not, forms the bed we die in. We are hardened by evil, weakened by laziness and ignorant because of foolishness.

On the death bed there is little steam left in our boiler to make any effort to change. We just accept what is and how we have always thought.

And when there are death bed conversions, someone somewhere is praying real hard.
