In Genesis 14:18-20 A Melchizedek King appears and gives bread and wine to Abram and then blesses him. No Melchizedek Priesthood is established. In Exodus 4:15-16, God established the Priesthood in the tribe of Levi.
A kingdom has one King. These is no Melchizedek Priesthood.
So by your definition Melchizedek is a type of king? Or was he an actual person?

Read Genesis 14: following verses
17 When Abram returned from his victory over Chedorlaomer and the kings who were allied with him, the king of Sodom went out to greet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley). 18 5 Melchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine, and being a priest of God Most High, he blessed Abram with these words: 19 6 Blessed be Abram by God Most High, the creator of heaven and earth; 20 7 And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your foes into your hand." Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
Prelude to the sader meal.
Bread and Wine…
High Priest…
prelude to the type of priesthood …
sacrificial…
lots of interesting “prefiguring”. [edited to improve language use]

This looks good.

Yet according to AMDGtoo
The King of Salem has no mother and no father, having no beginning nor end is a priest forever. His office of high priest can only refer to our Lord and High Priest, Jesus. Melchisedech (Melchizedek) of Genesis 14:18 and his sacrifice of bread and wine is mentioned in the Roman Canon (Eucharistic Prayer I) in the Catholic Mass, but I believe I told you that before.
Can anyone elaborate?

I agree

Hebrews 7:1-3 and Genesis 14:18-20 do not conflict
I’m still lost I guess I’ll just stick with the JST on Hebrews 7:3:
3 For this Melchizedek was ordained a priest after the order of the Son of God, which order was without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life. And all those who are ordained unto this priesthood are made like unto the Son of God, abiding a priest continually.

I guess the KJV failed you
It’s not the KJV that’s the problem. I quote from the KJV.

Hebrews 7:1-3 (KJV)

1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteiousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;

3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

Genesis 14:18 (KJV)

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

The footnotes of the two pieces of scripture even refer to each other.

Right. As written, how can the King of Salem aka King of piece be without father, without mother, etc and still exist?

In the story in Genesis, Melchizedek appears from no where like he has no mother or father. Christ appears without a biological mother or father on the order of (like) Melchizedek. So Christ is a Priest-King on the other of (like) Melchizedek (Hebrews 7:15-17)

The Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible? No wonder you’re having problems understanding. And no wonder you think that there was a Melchisedek priesthood.

These are some of the parallels from Melchizedeck priesthood that forshadowed the deliverer, Messiah to come Jesus.

No beginning/ no end, Jesus the Alpha and the Omega.

Priestly King/, Jesus our High Priest and King. (there have only been a few priestly kings recorded in the bible, but Jesus fulfilled the order according to the priesthood of Melchizedeck).

Offer sacrifices in form of bread and wine to God. Jesus fulfills both the bread and wine sacrifice in the Eucharist, and also the lamb sacrifice in his body and blood in his passsion, that is transubstantiated in the Eucharist, thus Jesus fulfilled every letter of the law and the prophets.

King of Salem, now Jerusalem, Jesus was crucified with the label “The King of the Jews” at his crucifixion from the worldly power.

It was prophesied that all animal sacrifices will cease, and the only acceptable sacrifice that God will accept, will be in the sacrifice according to the order of Melchizedeck, which Jesus does when he instituted the Eucharist to be his body and blood in the form of bread and wine, according to the priesthood of Melchizedeck.

Secondly Jesus being the new High Priestly/King of God, now institutes an everlasting priesthood, that will never end, That fulfills the last prophecy of Malachi, that today in the Catholic church from the rising of the sun to its setting the Catholic church offers daily an acceptable offering and sacrifice to God according to the order of Melchizedeck, in the form of bread and wine which are truly the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ.

The following prophecy is fulfilled in Jesus, and it is only in the Catholic Church that has a valid sacrifice to offer to God that is acceptable and is excecuted daily in the sacrificial Mass of the Catholic church, which Jesus built on Peter, present day Pope Benedict 16th with unbroken succession. Jesus institutes his New Priesthood to the apostles at the last Supper. And when ever there is a change in the High Priesthood of God, there is a change of Law Covenant. Jesus institutes the New and everlasting Covenant in his body and blood, that God has prepared a body for him. This is why the Eucharist is always an acceptable Sacrifice unto God, because it is fully divine and fully human, not made by human hands, but from God. This is a great mystery that can be seen with the eyes of faith and trust in God’s holy Word, when he commands his church to eat his body and drink his blood (see John 6). For Catholics “faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen”, That is why “it is the Spirit that gives life while the flesh is of no avail”

Malachi 1:11
For from the rising of the sun, even to its setting, my name is great among the nations; And everywhere they bring sacrifice to my name, and a pure offering; For great is my name among the nations, says the LORD of hosts.

In summary, the eternal Priesthood of Jesus is made according to the order of Melchizedeck, with no beginning and no end, sacrifice acceptable to God in the form of bread and wine. God is faithful to his Word. Jesus is not Melchizedeck, Jesus is our eternal High Priest/King according to the order of Melchizedeck, who is standing in heaven as a lamb as though slain, this is Jesus offering his sacrifice for all humanity in the presence of God. That main point is the family of the HighPriest/King has to consume the acceptabel sacrifice offered to God, this the Catholic church does daily, and communes with the Father in heaven to share in the New Covenant meal. There has never been a covenant without a meal shared.

I agree. The KJV is not a problem for Christians, but it seems to be for Mormons. They can’t find a Melchizedek Priesthood in the KJV.
That doesn’t make sense. I’m sure my KJV of the bible says just what yours does. So if mormons can’t find it in the bible then how do you explain catholics having it? And again the melchizedek priesthood is in the bible. A preist after the order of melchizedek has the melchiszedek priesthood. It says black and white right in the bible. And one more question do catholics believe in modern visions/revelations?

This will be the third time I’ve asked: Which verse(s) in the bible says there is a melchizedek priesthood?
