Hi all,

Can someone give insight regarding confession that teaches this subject or has extensive knowledge on it.

When a mortal sin is confessed, it’s necessary to give the number of times that sin is committed from what I know. If the number is given to the best knowledge at the time, and later realized to be incorrect by one account, is it necessary to return to confession for that previously confessed sin if that sin has not been repeated?

Thanks for any guidance to this. God Bless.

one needs to have true contrition for their sins before they are forgiven,or at least imperfect contrition(fear of damnation).if they are HONEST and yet were mistaken about the number of times they did x sin they are forgiven it and ther is no real need to receive the sacrement again…but for greater abilty to overcome one’s sinfulness it is advised that this FORGOTTEN sin be mentioned in the form of “i unintentionally made an incomplete confession the last time, for under recent examination i realised the number was x instead of the conffessed number x”
