hi,
recently i masterbated thinking that it was only a mortal sin if i ejaculated
i had done this once or twice before

i finished masterbating and i by accidently ejaculated
is this a mortal sin if i thought that it wasn’t a mortal sin if i didn’t ejaculate

sorry if this sounds stupid, but im confused and i would like to know
i want to know id i should go to confession
 
You are incorrect in your basic assumption. What you are doing is a misuse of God’s gift of sexuality.

What you have done is, as you know, a grave sin. You did it knowinly, even if you tried to convince yourself otherwise.
