Hello,

I was just watching this skeptical video on Youtube and it raised some questions.

youtube.com/watch?v=LaXg0pTG_dc

Why was Jacob chosen by God when it states in Romans 6:13, that Jacob was preferred by God through no actions or merits of his own, mealy because God decided it to be so. Could you please enlighten be more on this verse, Romans 9:6-24.
Could you please help to answer the questions in the video, I really would be grateful!

Thank you!

We (humans) choose people for positions because of their actions because that is our only means by which we can determine what that person is capable of- but God can see greatness before it is shown in deeds.

For Romans 6:13 it doesn’t say anything about God favoring Jacob.
Romans 9:6-24 Paul tries to explain God’s plan of salvation to the world. Because of Israel’s rejection, Not all who are Israel are Israel. It is not the children of the flesh who are children of God but children of the promise are counted as descendants.

We are baptized and we become the children of God through baptism. We are counted as the children of God.
