Uncertain about something, my daughter has done her 1st communion, she is 10 , can she recieve communion during mass without confession ?
If she’s free of mortal sin, yes. The age of reason is seven. Anyone over that age is capable of mortal sin. She will have to determine if confession is needed with the help of a priest and you if she’s comfortable doing so.Uncertain about something, my daughter has done her 1st communion, she is 10 , can she recieve communion during mass without confession ?
Why not take her to Church this weekend for Confession? The Church does want children to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation before First Communion. If this is her first confession, you can review the essentials with her before taking her.If she’s free of mortal sin, yes. The age of reason is seven. Anyone over that age is capable of mortal sin. I agree. She must see how she stay with sins, I many times do not know can I go or not to go on Holy Communion, and when I am not sure , then I do not go.If she’s free of mortal sin, yes. Just to add a point of clarity. If she’s free of mortal sin, yes. The age of reason is seven. Anyone over that age is capable of mortal sin. She will have to determine if confession is needed with the help of a priest and you if she’s comfortable doing so.
Thanks for the clarification so there is no confusion. I stated the “standard” age, but that’s dependent on a lot of factors.Just to add a point of clarity.
The age of reason cannot be pinned down to a specific age. I don’t think there is a rule. Seven is the commonly accepted norm. Now that I think about it, the norm is actually second grade.
I know a boy who took his first communion at five. He was somewhat advanced in maturity and understanding. Communion used to be given to infants.
