I am 16 years old and am quite religious. I had this question about a DJ. His name is Deadmau5 and is an electronic DJ. He is quite popular and has over 7 million facebook fans. I went on his fiancé’s Instagram and saw several pictures I did not like. Her name is. Kat von d and had her own show on TLC (L.A. Ink) I cannot tell if she is a satanist or not

I would like to know if it would be a sin to listen to his music which is mainly just beats and the occasional lyrics. This is bothering me so I would greatly appreciate your help.
 
It’s not really a sin to view work from artists who may hold views that are incompatible with our religion. Sometimes you just have to learn to separate the art from the artist. Even people we disagree with can produce good art sometimes, and there’s nothing wrong with accepting that.
 
Use your good instincts: if an “artist” has photographs you don’t like or you feel uneasy about, chances are their “art” is not going to be much good for you. And know that many talented people can be misled themselves so pray for them.

PS: you may “steal” from a musical artist whatever is good and become greater than the original. Learn to play an instrument and write some good music.

So you would say it is not a sin to listen to his music I just don’t get it he post on social media pictures with things that could be categorized as satanic yet celebrates Christmas.

Well, there are two possibilities.
  1. He is some form of Christian, yet anti-Catholic
  2. He is not a Christian of any sort, but celebrates Christmas only for its festive aspects
Some people celebrate Christmas in Japan just for the holiday, for instance, despite only a tiny sliver of the Japanese population being Christian.
