Why didn’t God just give us a rulebook? Just a nice, clean-cut set of rules and regulations on how to celebrate Mass, precise explanations of who’s in charge of what, and everything else so there is no debate. Wouldn’t it have been easier that way?

Hummm.🤷 He gave us the bible and we still argue over that. I guess God thought we would need somthing to practice patience with.

Good question.

Catechism? GIRM? Missale Romanum?

The fact is you can argue over black being black or 2+2 equalling 4 if you’re determined to disagree.

Actually…He did. He gave His Church the authority to do so.

How to celebrate Mass-
OF: General Instruction on the Roman Missal
EF - Missale Romanum 1962

Who is in charge - Scripture and Tradition tells us that- there is no debate- the “Papacy” has never actally been “debated” by the Church before…as if it was “possible” that the Church never had a Pope to begin with.

Maybe you are asking why God did not drop a book out of the sky- well actually he did do something…it is just not a book- it is a living teacher…called the “Catholic Church”.

All that we need is right before us. We just sometimes refuse to see it. The grain and the chaff is being separated.🤷

LOL! Where would the fun be in that? The free will? The discernment? The learning? It would be a case of do or do not.

If you study the history of God’s interaction with the world you get a theme of election, promise and covenant and God speaking a word to man. Always a spoken word, and if you think about it, this is all that matters. Faith is something we encounter every day when someone speaks a word to you, you either believe them, or you look to discredit or corroborate their word.

God has asked us to choose life. That seems simple and clear cut enough to me, yet I struggle to do it.

I agree with the other posters; people would just find a way to argue about that too. For example, God did give us some specific rules - the 10 Commandments.

Thou Shall Not Committ Murder:
Seems straightforward enough, but people argue about whether or not it covers every concievable form of murder, or if self defense isn’t included, or if this includes condeming aborition or certain forms of artificial contraception. Is it only prohibiting the murder of humans or are we not to murder animals? What about the Death penalty for certain crimes? Especially those where someone has broken this commandment themselves?

So even with a single ‘rule’, there is a lot of room for debate.

You are thinking like a Protestant!

We have the Pope- a universal spokesperson for God. When in doubt, listen to him
