I have a few questions regarding the councils of Buddhists:
- Who participates in theses councils?
- Are all the participants enlightened?
- If yes, then why were there disagreements and second-guessing over certain issues? If everyone was enlightened and all-knowing, everyone would automatically agree on everything. There would be no need for enlightened people to prove stuff to each other because they both already ‘know’ the truth.
- If no, then why should the word of unenlightened people be given authority over matters of dharma?
