Questions about Islam

I’ve seen mosques sometimes in the city I live in.However I wonder if Sunni and Shi’ite “require”(or prefer to have) different mosques.Are’nt Sunni and Shi’ite muslims like part of diffferent “denominations” in Islam?.I 'm not sure if this is correct but is’nt Sunni like the first branch of Islam that existed and then Shia came to be when Mohammed’s like sons disagrred on intepratations.What is the Aga Khan exactly?.I know that Ismā’īlīsm which is like part of Shi’ah Islam but if it happens to be like a title how is it accquired.

If anything the requirement is that there be no divisions. Hence someone out of the mainstream like a Nation of Islam or a 5 Percenter can go to the holiest places. And don’t be fooled there are many more sub groups of Muslims then the two largest. The Mosque would be like a Christian Church with an open communion. In some places in the world sectarian violence would prevent crossed groups from. worshiping together.

Recall that over 85% of the world’s Muslims are “Sunni.” Practices are generally standardized with tolerated differences in the minutiae. For the Shi’a, things are more different. I know there were many Shi’a who came to pray in a mosque I attended a few years ago, but most Sunnis wouldn’t pray in a “Shi’a mosque” where they have them because some things are different, such as the call to prayer and parts of the prayer, while the Sunni schools are in agreement. And the additions made by Shi’a might even invalidate the prayer from a Sunni perspective.

But not being Shi’a, I don’t know what their scholars say about praying in a regular (non-Shi’a) mosque.

There are differences in the ablution and the way both pray, even to the surras reciting order during the prayers, here is how the Shiite pray, and here is how the Sunni pray, notice the hands in both videos (that is one of the differences).

As for Aga Khan, there are 4 persons: Aga Khan 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Where the hands go is not a critical part of the prayer. There are a few different opinions about that even amonst Sunnis (sides, chest, navel). But there’s one Sunni school (Maliki) which places hands at the sides instead of in front, like the Shi’a. And nobody would say it invalidates the prayer either way.
